I was planning to buy a scooter for many reason, main reason being that a scooter can be driven by any one in my family. The second reason would be ample amount of space in front which would allow me to keep stuffs rather than carrying them along and so I preferred a scooter over a bike. And speed wasnt a factor so a 110cc engine was enough to satisfy my requirement.
I had many options like Honda Dio, Honda Activa which is one of the most selling scooters and till date not much have said anything against active, but one thing that mattered to me was the looks was very average. Although these days activa are much bulky but they still lack in terms of look and the average also isnt that great to talk about. Being a middle class man I always wanted to buy a scooter with good average.
I almost waited for 3-4 months to decide on which scooter to buy, and fortunately I came across Jupiter. Initially I hesitated as it was from TVS and brands like Honda are trustworthy but to my surprise the scooter till now has performed exceptionally. I Purchased this on 26th of last month and drove 5 km from the dealer showroom and it was a very very smooth ride.
Since then I have been using this scooter continuously. Almost clocked 350 kms till date and still going great and the same smoothness is maintained. The best part is that the machine is very smooth and not like the previous tvs models. The machine is as smooth as the machine in Activa, and the balance too is well maintained with petrol inlet at the back so one does not need to get off the scooter to fill petrol.
Few highlights:
Additional panel like the econometer and the pass light is added.
Petrol inlet at the back, hence avoiding user to get off the scooter whenever petrol is being filled.
12-inch Telescopic alloy forks are better than the 10-inch ones used in other scooters.
Mobile charging point and better seating posture.
My experience till now has been wonderful with this scooter. The ride is very much smooth with not much noise from the engine. After clocking 350 kms on this scooter I can proudly say that I have got a deal which was worth it. The best part is that the scooter has unisex appeal and any one from my house can ride it. Its more of a home vehicle than a personal vehicle.
Fuel Consumption:
I have checked the average twice, once by myself and once at the service center. Both the time it gave me an average of 50 kmpl. And I feel its a perfect average that a middle class person would need. One thing that went horribly wrong was when I visited service center for checking the average as they removed 100 ml petrol from my scooter and check the average from my 100 ml petrol itself and charged me 150 rupees. 50+ average is quite good when it comes to scooters.
Comfort:
The comfort level is better than conventional scooters, and I personally feel that the ergonomics have been improved in this scooter. The seating poster and the balance is perfectly maintained. The comfort should be top class for better riding experience and so is it.
Reliability:
The body seems tough, and not only tough but very stylish too. Sleek design with good built makes it altogether a better scooter.
Handling and control:
As mentioned earlier the control and handling is perfect and improved over other scooters. After riding almost 350+ kilometers I have personally felt the improved handling and control which makes it more better. I had taken a test drive of wego too before buying jupiter and there was a noticeable difference between both of them.
Looks:
Jupiter has superior looks which can impress any one. Somewhat similar to Dio, Jupiter seems more better as its bulky as well as stylish.
I seriously like the petrol inlet concept which helps me fill petrol while I am seated.
I purchased this scooter for something around 49, 000/- and with all the formalities it came for something around 51, 950/-
I would say a good competition for scooters like activa, dio and wego as well.
One thing that I got pissed off with, was the service center guys were very rude and I wasnt satisfied with the way my scooter was serviced. After my free services I would move to my local mechanic.
Final verdict:
Clocked around 350+ kms, and till now everything has been smooth and well in place. After my free services I am expecting the scooter to perform more better.
