I have been driving my old Pulsar 150 dts-i for the past 8 years. Finally decided to move to different 2 wheeler machine. Wanted to go for Discover 125 ST which has been recently launched. Called the showroom guy to bargain about my old machine. Was moving to the Bajaj showroom and in my way I have seen the TVS showroom and went in to know what models do they have.
Heard and viewed ads of Phoenix on tv couple of days earlier. Went in to see the what the new machine has in it. First Impression was the looks. It has attractive looks. went for a test ride.
Observations:
engine sounds good. Not too loud and not too low, just good to my ears. I liked the sound, crisp and clear(personal).
Shocks seems to be good. I have my old pulsar with almost shocks gone, so I feel like I am sitting on some sofa. Could be the bad effect of old pulsar.
Pick up was good enough for me. Infact equal to my pulsar 150(i felt so, since my old pulsar pickup died long back).
Tries reaching 70-90 kmph, and the machine is stable at that speed and I believe that is good enough for bangalore traffic.
5.Instrument cluster is different and takes time to adjust, was bit confusing at first look and could not find the speedometer. To be frank, not liked it much.
- Liked the parking lights concept.
Then moved to Bajaj showroom to check 125 ST.
Bad luck, no bike to test ride. I sat on a bike in showroom and felt like it was very low in height. I am 510 and I have noticed difference between thest 2 bikes. Definetely Phoenix was much comfortable to sit.
The Prices were almost same and Phoenix was some 2k less than 125ST. Also TVS guys have a better quotation to buy back my old pulsat than Bajaj. Not really known about mileage, the showroom guys says to be some where between 55 to 60. Seems to be ok. The company claimed it to be 67.
The showroom guys also seems to be honest in TVS(personal opinion). Was told to wait till Jan 14th to get the year of registration as 2013. Liked the honesty and said will be back on Jan 14th. I asked if they want me to pay any advance amount. They said no need and I can pay then on 12th and get the bike registered on 14th. That was real honest talk.
Mileage still to be tested so given 3 points to mileage. Will update in the next reivew.
Sorry for the long review and will be back on 14th Jan 2013.
Happy new year to All. regards,
Mohan
