Hello there!
I am Sudharshan from Chennai. It was my long time desire to get a motorcycle and this time I did not limit myself with just commuting. I looked out for something which is quite sporty in looks, bit powerful as well as easy to handle in Chennai city traffic. As I already own a Hero Honda CD Deluxe, I just wanted to upgrade to a new machine which can match my requirements mentioned above.
So I actively looked out for various options in 125C.Cs and 150C.Cs and shortlisted these machines:
(1) Honda Unicorn:- Same old 150 C.C engine with analog instrumentation
(2) Yamaha SS:- Good bike, but what I dont like is open chain. Also, doubt whether it can give a decent mileage or not
(3) Suzuki GS150R:- Wow! what a machine. I was actually stunned by looking at this machine, its looks are very good, engine is also quite capable of giving good performance. But what stopped me from choosing this bike is that availability of spare parts and tall pillion seat. And, of course, this bike is tall for me as well.
(4) TVS Phoenix 125:- Excellent 125 C.C machine! that is what I can say. A different machine from other normal TVS motorcycles with premium styling and comfort.
Now coming to my experience of choosing my dream bike.
I was originally planning to buy Suzuki Hayate 112 before looking to buy Phoenix, but due to lack of service outlets I dropped the idea of getting it. Finally, decided to go for Phoenix.
Went to showroom, and booked in advance as there was no availability. After a week, got a call from showroom that a Phoenix bike has arrived. I had a test ride and from my observations, I found that it has a comfortable seating position and excellent shocks. Also, I could notice that the plastic parts are of good quality.
Immediately decided to get one soon. Later, I made the full payment and bike was delivered 3 days ago.
Pros:
Easy handling
Comfortable seating(for pillion as well)
Engine is very much refined and silent
Very good pick up
Eco thrust engine for better efficiency
Hazard lamps(which is usually seen in cars)
Service and low battery reminders
Cons:
While riding, I could feel very negligible vibrations at times(However, this is too early to comment on this as the engine parts would not have been set in properly. Therefore, only after riding certain kilometers I could reveal this information)
I have not yet calculated the mileage, and soon I will reveal it.
Overall, I believe its a promising product from TVS and I am satisfied with it.
