Dunno why its so popular

Well...Lemme start of by saying this. I don’t like it !!

Now, the statement above might be a little influenced by the fact that I normally fly(!) my Kinetic Honda. That makes a comparison between the two inevitable. And...when the comparison is actually done...SCOOTY loses hands down. I really must apologize to all my female friends who might be reading this review ...and, might also be owning a scooty.

There is absolutely no denying the fact that the Scooty is the most preferred bike amongst college going students and females. The major reason for this seems to be the marketing strategy that TVS has so successfully employed by projecting it as an EASY bike. They even went the limit of naming the bike as Scooty EZ. Sorry dude...but, I still pronounce it as ’EE...ZED’. I am a lil old-school, yunno.

Do me a favour guys...everyone who thinks that Scooty is an easy bike...try my 8 year old Kinetic. Let me give you an example. The Kinetic does not have a Choke. That means, one less control to fiddle around with...or rather...get confused with. Now, let us go one by one into the comparisons...

The Kinetic is a 100cc bike and it really beats the Scooty hollow when it comes to power. As a matter of fact, since Kinetic has no gear changing hassles, its pickup is most times, even faster than the Pulsar or CBZ. I know, there will be people who argue...but I talk purely from personal experience, and not from any technical knowledge. Under normal circumstances, you could beat a scooty on full throttle with a Kinetic on half !! Also, carrying two people and luggage is quite easily done on the Kinetic.

Second point, STYLING.

Kinetic’s kept the same stlye from ever since it was launched. That explains how futuristic the design was, when it was first drafted. the design’s basically just great and really does not need any modifications. Any stupid attempts at making sleeker scooters (ala Saffire, Marvel etc) only ended up making clumsy, almost laughable looking machines. And, then...the companies turned to the same old Kinetic design. Don’t tell me that Scooty hasn’t followed Kinetic’s design...well, at least, somewhat !!

Now, we come to pricing. Forget the dum tag above that sez 27, 000. After all the hassle and stuff, it comes close to 34, 000. You get a Kinetic at 38, 000. THINK.

Seating space...hmmm...someone out there wanna argue the point in scooty’s favour ???

Suspension, I guess is similar in both cases.

One argument that TVS seems to put agains Kinetic is that it a heavier vehicle. At close to 100kg...it is. But really all that is just propoganda. If you can handle a scooty, you can do a Kinetic as well, easy. Also, with self-start, theres no need even for kicking. Also, more weight means better stability.

One BIG bonus !! Kinetic has a fuel guage. I think the newest model of sccoty has put some sorta corny red light indicator that warns if fuel is low. But, still...no sign of a fuel guage.

And please do not actually even think that the 55 kmph up there is anywhere close to the bulls eye. On road...on bad road...in traffic...with bad rider(!)...well, bring that down to say...40.

In the end...I own a Kinetic and I am proud. check out both bikes at their showrooms. Get a test ride...preferrably immediately, one after another. Then you can compare, and still later, write a corny review like this, based on your findings. I just hope Kinetic did a little better in their advertising. Then we’d get a truer picture.

CHEERS...

and sorry to all dudettes...(sorry I can’t find a female word for dude)
