Not impressive at all.

I bought TVS Scooty Pep about a month ago paying 35, 400 in bangalore. I just went and bought it thinking that since it is a popular vehicle, and TVS scooty is good, this should also be good. But my experience has been kind of mixed. It is an easy thing to ride. The side stand reminder is good. But I felt the following were some of the disadvantages. * It sometimes refuses to start. I have to kick for 15 min before I can get it to start. * While riding, it stops if I press both the brakes and come to a complete halt. (I got this one fixed by tuning the carburettor) * A very big permanent disadvantage with the vehicle is the rear view mirror!!! Its absolutely useless. I am about 5.11 and my wife is about 5.3. Both of us cant see what is coming in the back. We have strain our neck and turn around to be sure. It only looks good, but is pretty much useless. * Since choke is not there and it is automatically controlled, I felt this is not good. A choke should have been there for manual control also. This links up to the starting problem I guess. I would suggest u look at other vehicles also. And I agree with most of the other reviewers that it is over priced. Satya

Update on 29/03/07

Its more than 2 years I ve bought the scooty pep. I thought I should come back and write an update about what I feel now. My earlier product rating was 3 out 5. After 2.5 yrs, I am downgrading the rating to 1 out of 5. The problems reported are the same. It just refuses to start!!! I have kick real hard for abt 15 times before I can get the bloody machine to start. The self start has stopped working for more than a year now. I cant believe the original battery lasted just a year!!! The fibre body is light, but not strong enough to bear small city collisions. Like the other day, a bike grazed the front portion of the scooty, and the body tore like a piece of fabric. All this despite using it for short rides and regular servicing. The verdict after 2.5 yrs of usage - DONT BUY IT.

I plan to keep updating here about this vehicle. I got this serviced and was informed that Pendax (not sure if the spelling is right - thats what my mechanic told me) is malfunctioning which is why I am having the starting problem. I have had the starting problem for more than a year now. And it costs 700+ for this Pendax or whatever it is. I have to get this changed as starting the damn thing has become real difficult. I ll get a new one fixed, use it for a few days and update this review.
