Think Big, Ride Small

If you have trouble driving Two-Wheeler vehicles, cannot control a bike with gears, clutch or don’t want to waste time in learning it, don’t worry there is a solution Drive TVS Scooty. There is a double advantage of driving Scooterettes like Scooty, it’s easy to drive and secondly obtaining license for it is relatively easy. Well nothing in the world is perfect and completely good. A coin always has two sides. You have some thing good like ease of riding, button start etc., on the other hand you compromise over power, mileage. Let me make it clear at the start itself that this is a Scooterette specially made for city use and shorter commutes and is better for riding single.

After reviewing power bikes like Suzuki Fiero with an engine of 150 cc I feel ashamed of even mentioning the displacement of the Scooter. A mere 65 cc engine can only suffice need of the driver. With a double seat for up slopes the bike is simply a useless piece of metal and smoke. I mean if 90 cc Kinetic Honda finds it tough driving 2 up the slope, no wonder if 65 cc gives it up. Also to maintain the good condition of the Scooterett it’s better not to carry to much load.

The lightness of the bike makes it very easy to control. You can sneak through the narrow streets and heavy traffic faster than anyone. Lightness also helps in putting the bike on stands. This is helpful for ladies especially. One disadvantage comes with the lightness i.e. instability. At high speeds the Scooter becomes highly unstable. Though the maximum speed is less it is safe not to drive at high speeds if you see an empty city road. Weight of the Scooterett is just 81 kg (can you lift it?).

One more reason for not stretching the bike to its speed limit is the weak body structure. Since the Scooter is not made for speed driving and long commutes, care not taken regarding the structure of the body. They may say it is made up of some special steel or typical of a technical crap but honestly I don’t think it can sustain minor collision. Everything from handle to the frame looks hostile. Suspensions are also not as good as they should be to compensate the low weight.

Every technical specification with numbers is less in Scooty compared to other bikes, right from the engine power to the fuel tank capacity. Fuel Tank capacity of 3.5 liters with 0.7 liter for reserve can get you no longer than few kilometers. Continuing with the numbers the mileage is around 45 kmpl. To add to the positive side it has a button start and a sleek design. Cost of this machine has to be less around 37000 thousand. If you stick to the guidelines given by the company regarding not to carry much load, not to keep anything on the footboard etc., you shouldn’t be facing any major maintenance problems. Ground clearance is very low (because of the low wheel base). After all these considerations I recommend this Scooterett for City use only.
