First let me tell about myself. From last 5 years, I used to drive 150cc bikes. The last I used was Honda Unicorn. Sold it in May 2009 because I didn’t want to drive two wheelers any more at that time.
Time passed, I started realized the need of 2 wheelers in Kolkata roads and this time I was searching for a second hand bike within a range of 20k / 25k as I supposed to use that very irregularly. But my six months searching was in vain and then one evening I went to TVS showroom for TVS Sport as that perhaps the most pocket friendly bike. Showroom told me they can give the delivery of Sport on the next day and only one Star City is available for ready delivery. I bought that immediately and became a member of TVS family on 24th September 2010.
So far, my experience is very poor. Bike is almost new(only 5 months), run around 3500 kms only but gave me lots of pain already.
Service center is worst. I stop visit there after my first service.
Bike has a front shocker problem from the day one but instead of accepting that, TVS guys told me that I might faced an accident with the bike and so the problem started.
As I took the delivery in the evening, so I couldn’t noticed that maximum extra fittings were rusted, though they changed couple of those on the next day.
After 1000kms, right side back shocker need to replaced due to leakage.
Noise from camshaft from the day one, without addressing that, TVS guys informed me that they will do the needful only after 5000kms and that is a company order.
The most important aspect of a 100cc bike is mileage and so far my TVS Star City returns only 51kms/lt. I used to get 50kms/lt from my Unicorn(150cc). So what is the reason to use 100cc?
Braking(front and back) is very poor, it lacks bite.
Initial pick up is also not very good. My brother’s 2003 HH Passion has still score better than my new one.
Battery discharges very fast. Probably electric wearings has some issue as well. It means PDI of TVS is worst.
Also I don’t like the balance of this bike. It is lightweight but same is true for HH passion as well. Passion has great balance.
One positive thing though I noticed in it, that the light is very powerful. But this should not be the reason to buy this one. So my opinion is negative about TVS Star City 110 ES.
As I am very much unsatisfied, hence sold it on 5th March 2011.
