First of all I would like to mention that the 2 strokes can (in theory) produce twice the power of a 4 stroke for the same sized engine (same cubic capacity) and the same revs. So I will not compare Shogun with any other bikes because it is an advantage over other 4-strokes. I am just here to elucidate what I know about 2 Strokes and it should lead you all to a decision “To Buy or not to Buy”.

To be honest I have never liked Shogun (because of looks) & partly may be because I own a RX 100 & I had RD 350 (However, I sold her coz her drinking habits were causing heartburns to me). Not to mention, Shogun has a huge power plant.. producing 14 BHP / 10.3 KW. Actually, it’s the look of Shogun, that don’t impress me much.

Actually, the combination of lightweight and twice the power gives two-stroke engines a great power-to-weight ratio compared to many four-stroke engine designs. That is why I agree with most of my friends (who have written reviews on Shogun or RX100), that no bike can be compared to Shogun’s/RX 100’s.

I remember the first time I tried my hands on Shogun. I experienced a nice wheelie that time. One more thing I would like to mention, that you can modify 2-stroke engine to produce more power. The reason being, it needs only one revolution of the crankshaft to indicate a new ignition. Additionally, the piston has at the same time the function of a valve, which saves many mobile parts: The two-stroke engine consists of only three mobile parts: Piston, connecting rod and crankshaft.

However, beside the awesome performance, there lie increasing difficulties with the environment. The fuel mixture of the two-stroke engine often gets shifted with a certain quantity of oil because of the necessary lubrication. Unfortunately the oil gets burnt partly, too, and harmful gases are expulsed by the engine. Due to new norms coming into play we lost the Power Monsters Shogun & RX 100.

Last Tip for all the guys (& girls for that matter of fact) who owns 2 Stroke bike:

The lack of a dedicated lubrication helps the parts of a two-stroke engine wear-out faster. Because a Two-stroke engine require a mix of oil with the Petrol to lubricate the crankshaft, connecting rod and cylinder walls, so never throttle your Shogun without 2-T oil. It’s the main source of Power & not to mention.... Performance.

Enjo’y Riding...

Love, Peace, Empathy!!!!
