Review on the new Victor GL

First the Victor has no contribution from Suzuki. Its a complete indigenous TVS affair. hence dont go by the product title by MS.

i had ridden a scooter for the past 5 yrs and now wanted to buy a bike. my only constraint was I did not know how to ride a bike properly. I tried out the caliber 115, HH splendor, Pulsar and the Fiero F2. I would have gone for the F2 if I had biking experience but did not take it as it is too powerful to be handled by a novice.

At this time the new Victor variant : Victor GL was launched. The changes made to this model are superficial. they have launched a new color: Gold(something like the LML Freedom color), painted the engine, changed the stickers, given twin color seats and put a rear tyre suspension change, which the rider can adjust depending on whether he is alone or with a pillion. Even though I dont know how to ride properly this bike is easy to handle. which was my primary reason for choosing it. it has not yet undergone first servicing but gives 50+ mileage which is supposed to increase after servicing. the econo meter, which tells you whether ur consuming fuel efficiently or not has become a classic feature, pending patent and has been copied onto the Fiero F2 and Scooty pep.

The major cons on this bike is its dealers. I bought it from bangalore and there was confusion galore. half the guys didnt know that TVS was launching a new victor( or maybe they didnt want the customer to know so as to dispose old stock). also their behavior during delivery left a lot to be desired . I havent as yet gone for servicing so cant comment on that.

All in all the bikes satisfactory. Dont look for a wonder bike and u’ll be happy to own it. I call it ’’Optima’’ cause its got a very good balance of everything.

Update:

the bike has now undergone first servicing. I can see that it will give at least 60 kmpl, watever the conditions. but dont expect much more under city conditions. has taken this bike on a 240 km trip through villages, forests and highways. It behaved wonderfully.

There is one problem: The bike starts to sway if you take it upto 60 kmph and it is definitely uncontrollable at 70 kmph. so if ur in need of fast riding ...beware.
