The moment I decided to buy a new vehicle, I knew that I am not wishing for anything lesser than 100cc. I had short listed Activa, Wego and Access. HH and Mahindra were not even looked at because of the absence of a dealer nearby. My experience:
Honda Showroom:
Me and my husband went there and were waiting for 10 whole minutes looking at bikes, and hoping that a sales person looks at us. No avail. Then we went and called a sales person, who came and started telling us that Activa is good, but aviator is even better, blah blah. Ok, So we decided to test ride the aviator. My husband found it ok, But for a 5"2 like me, even for a short test ride, my ankle started paining. Oh yes, my legs wouldnt reach the ground. The sales person immediately corrected himself and told me that the Aviator is not suited for women(esp of my height range). Activa is better. So we asked, could we test ride the activa?
"We dont have any test vehicle sir"
"How long would the deliver take for activa?"
"Minimum of 70 days sir, Sometimes it stretches to 90 days too"
Apparently, the delay is not because of demand, but capacity constraints.
Suzuki Showroom:
A poker faced guy came to us and asked us to sit down and explained the features of Suzuki Access. The specs looked amazing, and I was impressed.
We: Can we have a test ride sir?
SP: Yes, who wants to test ride?
We: Both of us
SP: Oh no sir, only one test ride allowed. 2 people cannot test ride.
I found the ride quality good, but the sales approach and customer handling pathetic. Only one test ride allowed? Ridiculous.
TVS Showroom:
I stepped in and was looking around for some time. A lady came and asked me what I wanted. I told her that I was looking for a scooterette. She showed me the Scooty and the Wego, and explained the features. I wanted to test ride both of them. She agreed. I just loved the wego the moment I rode it. It was perfect for my height, and the ride quality was amazing. It could beat Access 125 hands down. The body balance thing is not just a gimmick IMO, it really feels more stable. After the wego, Scooty felt a little rough. Though Wego was the priciest of the lot, it was love at first sight with the white one. 3 days delivery for all colours.
You can find the specs all over the Internet. Salient features:
a) Easy to put main stand.
b) External fuel tank. Hence we dont have to lift the seat.
c) Very good ride quality
d) Full metal body. Heavy but feels stable
e) Decent storage.
I have clocked around 750 kms on it, in less than a month. Love it.
PS: 3.5 years and 22000 kms later, I still love it :)
