A valiant Attempt …

Guys If I go for a blood test I am sure the doctors would be shocked! coz its not blood that flows through my viens …. Relax guys I am human but its music that flows through me, I am crazy about music, its an endless boundary less universe uniting people of all colors & creed . I listen to all kinds of music and  would place English music as one of my favorites.

I wanted to write about my favorite songs, but twenty is too less and theres no arithmetic figure for my maximum number of songs as it keeps increasing day by day. I am listing 20 of my favorite songs( with a lot of difficulty) but to do justice to the artistes I am not listing them in any particular order.

Abba - The Swedish group of the 70’s that took the world by storm, they had a lot of foot tapping numbers, but one of my personal favorites is a slow number called’Slipping through my Fingers’ which  showcases a mother’s worry about her little girl, beautifully rendered., it touches your soul.

Annie Lennox - A powerful singer, earlier a part of the group’Eurythymics’, has many songs under her belt, viz, Why, walking on broken glass, but my favorite is’Love Song of a Vampire, this song a soundtrack of the movie’Bram Stoker’s Dracula’, this song is eerie, sends shivers down my spine very well sung.

The Alan Parson’s Project - One of the best band I would say, made wonderful music, there are so many songs I like, but one than stands out is Don’t answer me.  They have a very  different kind of music that is very sentimental.

Bee Gees - Who can forget Staying Alive and a host of other Bee Gees favorites but my fav is’How can you mend a broken heart’, you actually share the sorrow with the singer when you hear this song.

Beatles - Aah mera favorite, I can write pages and pages about them, choosing one song is very difficult, but I had to do it and the choice is’Yesterday’ with its great lyrics and  some soulful singing! . Check out my review on their Please Please me album

Cranberries - This band has some great style of singing and has many great songs, I would choose’Animal instinct’ because of the positive energy that emanates from the song.

Celine Dion  - A fellow Arien and one of the most expressive and impressive singers in the modern era, her ability to get the pitch ever so high with so much control is great. My favorite song of this Canadian singer is’Falling into you’, this song makes me fall in love again and again .

Eagles - Don Henley’s Group with its Rock Ballads is almost everyone’s favorite, almost everyone knows’Hotel California’, but its’ Love will keep us alive’ that moves me, the never say die attitude and faithfulness is very well imbibed in the song.

Metallica - The trio of Lars, James and Kirk who are an amzing rock band, there are so many songs like’Enter Sandman’, ’Unforgiven’ and so mnay more, but my favorite is’Nothing Else Matters’ a Rock Ballad, the like the style of singing which starts with a low note and picks up ever so beautifully.

Queen - Aha! Apna Bawa bhai  Freddie Mercury, powerful voice, great music, I can list many songs, but my fav here is’Bohemian Rhapsody’ this is considered as the most difficult musical  composition in the world, Freddie’s group mixed Rock and Opera and guys,  this one has to grow on you, wouldn’t like it first on!

Extreme - Another Rock Group, this time again I am selecting their love ballad’ More than Words’ this has only 2 guys singing with 2 acoustic guitars, this song has some amazing lyrics, perfect for a lovey dovey day .

Gipsy Kings - Puede hablar usted en Espanol mi amigo? Do you speak Spanish? naaaaaaaah I don’t but who cares, it’s the music that moves me, the lovely group guitar sound, my favorite is’Ai Mi Manera’, a subtle song, don’t ask me the meaning but this moves me folks, and do check out my review on this group for further details.

John Denver - Oh the Country music, deep voice and simple lyrics, his’ Leaving on a Jetplane  is the song to croon to your beloved if you are goin out of town, great song and has been featured recently in the soundtrack of’Armageddon’.

Madonna - Diva of the century, her specialty is her versatility and adaptability, she moves with the era and her music too lives up to the expectation, I like her’This used to be my Playground’ songs about sweet memories, great!

Simon and Garfunkel - I am their biggest fan, their music is of the country - pop genre, great songs like Mrs Robinson and Cecilia, this 1960’s group’s’For Emily Wherever I may Find her’ is my fav song, a very short song very soulfully sung by Paul Simon, play it to your beloved and whoa! see her back in your arms .

Pet Shop Boys - The 80’s group which churned out good dance numbers, I like’Se a Vida E’ very nice song, with infectious rhythm and good lyrics, I am tempted to include another of their songs’It’s a Sin’ another smash hit.

Andrew Lloyd Webber - Hes the modern composer, who has made great Broadway Opera musicals and created some wonderful music, if you think since hes into opera the music would be slow, you are wrong, His’Phantom of the Opera’ is great very vibrant with deep percussions and a nice synchronization by the male and female lead singers.

R E M - Rapid Eye Movement, this group is into the Alternative Genre, neither pop nor rock, their best and my fav is’Losing my Religion’  great song, keeps flowing like a river and different lyrics, makes you think.

Pink Floyd - This group would find itself in everyones Top Songs list, he has a very different style of composing music, my personal best is’Comfortable Numb’  the intelligent lyrics and the different guitaring makes you want more.

Sting - The school teacher turned musician who formed a band’Police’ and then came solo has got some great talent for poetry, he writes his lyrics which are almost like mini stories and which move you, he also adapts himself to the changing music scene very well, His’Fragile’, ’Desert Rose’ and so many more stand out but its’Mad about you’ that takes the cake, great lyrics, great composing and great singing.

Well that end of my musical  journey, do I see some frowns on the faces of Elton John, Michael Bolton, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley and many more, sorry guys no offense, you guys deserve to be in this list but I could not just fit you in .
