What is love?
*Love** is an attachment which stays with you all your life. Love is a bond which extends beyond distances, words and time. A wise person has rightly said,
*‘If you love someone, set her free.
If she comes back to you, she is yours.
If she does not, she never was.’*
The(so-called) romantic Hindi films will outnumber even the stars in the sky(and this is, obviously, an exaggeration) and so certainly there have been so many love songs.
However, my review focuses on the love songs of the recent times, though I must admit that *Dil tadap tadap ke keh raha hai aa bhi jaa, Jo vaada kiya who nibhaana padega, Lag jaa gale ke fir yeh, pyaar hua ikraar hua…* and many many others have been my favourites. But, I have very less information about these old songs and so I limit myself to the songs of the recent times, which are no less beautiful….
I haven’t really given a list of love songs, but categorized them in a very different manner just to classify them broadly.
*Best Shahrukh Khan - Kajol Love Songs **:
They have been the ‘eternal love pair’ of the recent times. They’ve played each others’ love interest in five films namely, Baazigar, Karan Arjun, Dilwale Dulhaniya le jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, all of them turned out to be very successful. And here come my favourite SRK-Kajol Love songs …
1.**Ho gaya hai tujhko to pyaar(DDLJ)**: This song where the two lovers realize their love, only after they have to part, is picturised on Shahrukh Khan and Kajol. I especially love ‘Main chhod aayi khud ko jahaan pe who reh gaya mod peeche’.
2.**Tum paas aaye(Kuch Kuch hota hai) **: Another wonderful song from this very wonderful film. Very beautifully picturised too.
*Best A. R. Rahman love songs**:
He is certainly one of the best music directors today. He has come up with some really romantic songs, and here are a few of them….
1.**Saathiya(Saathiya)**: A beautiful song which, rightly won many awards too. Rani Mukherji looks gorgeous(and that’s the word!) in this song. ‘Maddham maddham has de fir se, sona sona fir se has de…’ Wow!
2.**Nahi Saamne(Taal)**: Lost your love? This song will surely express your sentiments and it really touches my heart!
3.**E ajnabi(Dil Se)**: ‘Main yahaan tukdo me jee raha hoon…’ is the best part of this gem of a song!
*The ‘first-love’ songs **: The restlessness, the excitement, the romance, these ‘first love songs’ have it all….
1.**Pehla Nasha(Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar)** A college going Aamir Khan is in love for the first time and so is Ayesha Jhulka. Great lyrics, superb rendering actually set the mood of this song.
2.**Meri Zindagi Me Aaye ho(Armaan)**: This song is not too popular but still remains my favourite. Sunidhi Chauhan proves that she is certainly a singer with a difference. Composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and lyrics by Javed Akhtar, this song will rightly convey your feelings to your sweetheart.
3.**Ek din aap yunh(Yes Boss)**: Shahrukh Khan and Juhi Chawla, in this film, never knew how they got closer to each other, and here comes this beautiful song.
4.**Do dil mil rahe hain(Pardes)**: This is Kumar Sanu’s best song, certainly. I love the guitar, and also the lyrics of this song.
- *Naa tum jaano naa tum(Kaho naa pyaar hai)**: Sung by Lucky Ali, this song has a happy feel to it.
*The soulful numbers**:
Voila the soulful numbers…
1.**Kuch naa kaho kuch bhi naa kaho(1942 A love Story)**: When you are with your sweetheart, words hardly have a role to play, what matters is emotions… and this is what this song is based on.
2.**Hum dil de chuke Sanam(Hum dil de chuke Sanam)** This is one of the best albums by Ismail Darbar who displays his amazing music prowess with this number rendered by Kavita Krishnamurthy. ‘Teri yaadon ke saaye me gujregi yeh zindagi, us khuda ke baad to puja hogi bas teri’, love is about devotion…
3.**Jaadu Hai nashaa hai(Jism)**: I love the way Shreya Ghoshal’s haunting voice goes, “Dekhti hai, jis tarah se teri nazrein mujhe. main khud ko chhupaaun kahaan…”.
4.**Baahon ke Darmiyaan(Khamoshi)**: ‘Dhadkan bani jubaan’(meaning, it’s heartbeat that speaks.) is a highlight of this song.
There are, of course, several others, but the above mentioned are my favourites. Love would live till the end of this world, and so will these songs…
