Hum tum yug yugse ye geet milan ke gaate rahe hai.

I have selected some of the best love songs, which have a meaning and excellent words as well as melody, superbly composed, ever fresh and are still in demand and can be herd on All India Radio, Vividh Bharati and Radio Sri Lanka(and cannot be herd on Radio Mirchi, FM and City). I have selected only duet songs composed by some of the great music directors.


NAUSHAD


-Tu Mera Chand Main Teri Chandani. Shyam-Suraiyya(Dillagi, 1949)




  • Do Sitaron Ka Zameen Per. Rafi-Lata(Kohinoor, 1961)




-Tarari Tarari Tarari? Rafi-Suraiyya(Dastan, 1950). This particular song is superbly composed in western style(Spanish) and nicely written by lyrics Shakeel Badayuni. You feel just to have a belle dance with your lover when this song is on.


C. RAMCHANDRA


-Bhool Jayen Sare Gham? Rafi-Lata(Nausherwa-E-Adil, 1952)


-Aadha Hai Chandram Raat Aadhi. Mannade-Asha(Navrang, 1961)


-Kitan Hansi Hai Mousam?. C.Ramchandra-Lata(Aazad, 1955). The most delicate duet love songs of its time. Excellent lyrics by Rajendra Krishn.


O.P.NYYAR


-Aankho Hi Aankho Main Ishara? Rafi-Geeta Dutt(CID, 1955)


-Pyar Par Bus To Nahin Hai? Talat Mehmud-Asha(Sone Ki Chidiya, 1958)


-Hum Dum Mere?. Rafi-Asha(Phir Wohi Dil Laya Houn, 1966). The fast track love duet. Excellent use of instruments Santoor and Dholalk.


SHANKR-JAIKISHAN, have given maximum numbers of love songs. It is toughest job to select only few from it. But SJ?s love duets are simply superb with the variety.


-Aaja Ke Intzar Main? Rafi-Lata(Halaku, 1952)


-Nain Mile Chain Kahan. Mannade-Lata(Basant Bahar, 1958)


-Muzako Apane Gale Lagalo. Rafi-Mubaraq Begam(Hamrahi, 1962)


-Dil Ki Girah Khol Do. Mannade-Lata(Raat Aur Din, 1967)


-Chale Jana Jara Theharo. Mukesh-Sharada(Around The World, 1968)


-O Mere Sanam? Mukesh-Lata(Sangam, 1963). Excellent composition in Rag Bhairavi. Simple Classical love duet. I would rate it is one of the best of SJ/Shailendra combination.


SALIL CHAUDHARI


-Dil Tadap Tadap Ke?. Mukesh-Lata(Madhumati, 1959)


-Aaha Rimzim Ke Ye Pyare Pyare. Talat-Lata(Usane Kaha Tha, 1960). The use of orchestra on this fast track song is simply superb matching to the lyrics of Shailendra.


MADANMOHAN


-Do Ghadi Wo Jo Pass Aa Baithe. Rafi-Lata(Gateway Of India, 1961)


-Chhodkar Tere Pyar Ka Daman Mahendra K.-Lata(Wo Kaun Thi, 1966)


-Ai Sanam Aaj Ye Kasam Khaye. Talat-Lata(Jahanara, 1966)


-Teri Nigahon Main Teri Hi Bahon Main. Talat-Asha(Bahana, 1960). The true lovers are singing this song to die for each other. Nicely written by Rajendra Krishn and fast breezing melodious tune.


VASANT DESAI


-Jeevan Main Piya Tera Saath Rahe. Rafi-Lata(Gunj Uthi Shahnai, 1958)


-Nain So Nain Nahin Milao. Hemant-Lata(Zanak Zanak Payal Baje, 1960). Very tender love duet its my all time favorites.


SACHIN DEV BURMAN


-Chhod Do Aanchal? Kishor-Asha(Paying Guest, 1959)


-Yeh Kisne Geet Chheda? Mukesh-Suman K.(Meri Surat Teri Aankhe, ?61)


-Dil Pukare Aare Aare. Rafi-Lata(Jewel Thief, 1967). Lyrist Shailendra and SDB at it?s peak. The song to here at any time, any day & anywhere.

-Tere Bin Sajan Lage Na Jiya Hamar. Rafi-Lata(Aarti, 1961)


-Bade Aramano Se Rakha Hai Kadam Mukesh-Lata(Malhar, 1952) Sweetest melody of Roshan/Indivar. Lovers are confessing each other about their first ever love.

-Abhi Na Jao Chhod Kar? Rafi-Asha(Humdono, 1962)Sahir has written this superb https://lyrics. A beautiful combination of good word and music.

-Ye Raat Ye Phizaye?. Rafi-Asha(Batwara, 1961). This song is one of my all time favorites. It is also one of the best duets of Asha-Rafi combination.


SUHRID KAR


-Saath Ho Tum Aur Raat Jawan Mukesh-Asha(Kaanch Ki Chudiya, 1961). Lyricist Shailendra has written this romantic song. This song is also one of my all time favorites. This is yet another immortal love duet from Hindi Cinema.

-Sawanle Salone Aaye Din? Hemant-Lata(Ek Hi Rasta, 1954)


GHULAM MOHAMMAD

-Tum Mile Dil Khile? Kumar Shanu-Alka(Criminal, 1995). The only melodious love duet during recent time.
