Celebrate the Indian inside!

PLEASE NOTE: Following list is my personal choice, and its not intended to hurt anyone. I have choosen the best songs (which I loved) from 2000-2010. I didn’t checked any popularity, before publishing my list of Best 20 songs. And I cannot include every song :(


After 13 days gap, here is my latest review on the Best 20 Songs, which I choose as the inner feelings, and when I listen to those, it gave a feel that "I am proud to be an Indian", so here’s the list for you, where I have just mentioned TOP 3 songs in countup order, for rest I cannot assign numbers, as they all are equally marvellous. I clubbed same movie songs in one group.


1. Loose Control, Khalbali and Rang De Basanti - Rang De Basanti (2006). This wonderful movie was wonderfully supported by the beauty of songs. ’Loose Control’ gave the feel of youth, where every youth just want to enjoy being loose in control, ’Khalbali’, is the song of enjoying, the Bindaas song, with the truth of life, and ’Rang De Basanti’ is again a life-enjoying song, where the actors are on a trip to Discover India. This is the best album of all time. Music - A R Rehman, Lyrics - Prasoon Joshi, Main vocals - Naresh Iyer, AR Rehman, Daler Mehndi and Mohammad Aslam.


2. All is Well, Give Me Some Sunshine - 3 Idiots (2009). All is well, is now famous as the best Indian mantra, and is full of feeling of well-being, which ask the youth to be happy, no matter what happens, while ’Give me some sunshine’ is a rhythm song with the feel of want, what more one didn’t got but wanted, a perfect soul-finding song. Music - Shantanu Moitra, Lyrics - Swanand Kirkire, Main Vocals - Sonu Nigam, Shaan, Suraj Jagan and Swanand Kirkire.


3. Chak De India - Chak De India (2007). A perfect song for inspiration, and beautifully sung by the best playback singer of India. It tells about the real conditions prevailing in India, they may be bad, but still We loved it, because it’s our motherland India, and a perfect patriotic feel one gets by listening to it. Music - Salim-Sulaiman, Lyrics - Jaideep Sahni, Main Vocals - Sukhwinder Singh.


Dil Chahta Hai - Dil Chahta Hai (2001). 3 Friend on a trip to rediscover themselves, and their emotions are well expressed by this song, What is Friendship, and what is true spirit of life and desires, are well penned here by Javed Akhtar, and sung by Shankar Mahadevan, well supported through music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.


Munnabhai MBBS, Subah Ho Gayi Mamu, Apun Jaise Tapori - Munnabhai MBBS (2003). A story of a goon turning an illeterate doctor, but who wins the heart of every person out there, is perfectly expressed, and penned by these beautiful songs, not high on intelligent lyrics, more on funny and Mumbaiya language, but did convey the meaning of enjoying and self-revealation wonderfully. Music - Anu malik, Lyrics - Abbas Tyrewala, Rahat Indori, Main Vocals - Vinod Rathore, Sanjay Dutt and Shaan.


Ek Saathi Aur Bhi Tha, Main Kahin Bhi Rahu, Seemayen Bulayen - LOC Kargil (2003). All these song are one of the best ever written war songs. ’Ek Saathi’, explains the pain of war, where anybody can lose their friends, sons, fathers, and beautifully expressed. ’Main Kahin’ explains the pain of separation from loved ones, and families, through which Jawaan soldier goes through while protecting India’s borders, wonderfully penned. ’Seemayen’ is a song of passion of a soldier, where he is invited by the borders, and it’s his first duty to protect his motherland. Wonderfully penned by - Javed Akhtar, Music - Anu Malik, Main Vocals - Sukhwinder Singh, Hariharan, Sonu Nigam, Roop Kumar Rathore.


Main Aisa Kyon Hoon, Lakshya ko - Lakshya (2004). This movie based on Kargil war have wonderful light-feeling songs, on the one hand there is a song ’Main aisa’, which depicts the confusion of an Indian youth perfectly, and on the other we have the inspirational songs like ’Lakshya ko’. Nice varioation in the feelings. Music - Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Lyrics - Javed Akhtar, Main Vocals - Shaan, Shankar Mahadevan.


Yunhi Chala Chal Raahi, Ye Jo Des Hai Tera - Swades (2004). Swades was one of the few movies, we have seen in Bollywood who talks of patriotism from within ourselves, it never went to Pakistan or England or terrorism issues to show the feeling of patriotism, but it shows that improving conditions here in India, will increase the patriotic feeling. ’Yunhi chala chal’ depicts a free soul on a tour of nice India, while ’Ye jo Des’, gave the feeling of Indian to every guy who in some or other way related to India. Music - AR Rehman, Lyrics - Javed Akhtar, Main Vocals - Udit Narayan, Kailash Kher, Hariharan, AR Rehman.


Bombay Nagariya, Meter Down, Aazmaale - Taxi No 9211 (2006). Bappi Lahiri came back with a bang by singing a truthful song about the Mumbai city, its die-hard spirit, wonderfully supported by nice lyrics and music. ’Meter Down’ have all the flavours of a masti-maza song, and ’Aazmale’ explains the fighting between good and bad of a mind. Music - Vishal-Shekhar, Lyrics - Vishal Dadlani, Dev Kohli, Main Vocals - Bappi Lahiri, Adnan Sami, Shekhar Ravijani.


Maa - Taare Zameen Par (2007). TZP was a movie about a dyslexic boy, and it was wonderfully directed by the great Aamir Khan, and this song was the best song of the whole beautiful album, which expalins the pain of a small child, when he face abandonement from the family, when he was pushes into a boarding school. When you hear the song, it’s definite you’ll ending up crying by the feel. Music - Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Lyrics - Prasoon Joshi, Main Vocals - Shankar Mahadevan.


Dum Laga - Dil Dosti Etc (2007). The youthful song, i.e. the song of josh and jawani of today’s youth where they may know the path to follow, but choose to forget it, just to enjoy the day. Lyrics, Music, Main Vocals - Ram Gautam, Prashant Pandey, Siddharth Suhas.


Mauja Hi Mauja and other songs - Jab We Met (2007). You want to dance to the beats of life, play this song and shift your gears forward and start enjoying. This versatile album gave the beats, the soulful songs, and the romantic numbers, and is worth a collection. Music - Pritam, Lyrics - Irshad Kamil, Main Vocals - Mika Singh.


Pappu cant Dance Saala - Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (2008). The adrenaline increases with this comic song, where all the college-youths are celebrating a party and explaining the plight of a poor guy who doesn’t knows how to dance. This album was a refreshing one with a music from the maestro AR Rehman, and lyrics by Abbas Tyrewala. Main Vocals - Anupama, Beeny Dayal, Blaaze, Tanvi.


Rock On, Pichle saat Dino Mein - Rock On (2008). Who would have think that Farhan Akhtar is such a talented artist after seeing his perfect directional abilities in DCH and Lakshya. But he perfectly swept the audience with his singing performance in Rock on, what a soulful music and singing. Music - Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Lyrics - Javed Akhtar, Main Vocals - Farhan Akhtar.


Aa Aaja Aye Saaye Mere - New York (2009). The truth of divided Indians is wonderfully expressed by this beatifully penned song. It talks about the differences and the similarities between Indians. Music and Singer - Pankaj Awasthi, Lyrics - Junaid Wasi, Sandeep Shrivastava.
