Here it goes..

I’m not a gr8 hindi movie buff, ’n doesnt’ve the patience to watch, for, my god, 3 hours. But I love Hindi songs(again old’n new ones r 2 different entities, ’n a gr8 fan of lata, rafi, mukesh, asha, hemanth’n kishore kumar, manna dey.goes on .Even our music composers were I believe much much ahead of their times(sadly the script writers were centuries behind, with exceptions though) with legendary RD Burman, Madan Mohan’s, who all had such a gr8 variation, depth’n covered a whole spectrum of musical experimentations.

1) Ae Mere Watan Ke logon: Oh my, what a patriotic song, ’n from a voice that jells with the true emotions the song invokes, I wonder anybody can sing this song with the same emotional depth

2)Inhi Logon ne: Lata Mangeshkar’s resplendent rendition is a delight to hear

3)Mughal-e-Asam: I dont think any Indian, needs any intro to the songs of this movie. Each one of’em is a real gem, ’n would be a gr8 injustice if I can pick just one of’em.The richness of the lyrics(Shakeel Badayuni), the classical tunes(naushad), and most of all, its a delight to hear the pure Hindi language used.

4)Madhumati:This is another one, where I loose my ability to pick just one among’em.This film, has such a gr8 combination of genius artists like Mukesh, Lata, Manna Dey, Rafi(also Asha in one of’em I suppose)  , no doubt it is such a classic. The voice of the singers is perfectly’n beautifully complimented by the light simple background score by Salil Chowdhury.

5)Waqt ne kiya: by Geeta Dutt, I really cant put my finger exactly as to why I luv this one, but a classy one.

6)Aayega aanewala: Its a treat to hear to lata’s voice in this, a masterpiece.

7)Satyam Shivam Sundaram:A truely melodious one, ’n another one that needs no intro.

8)Ye zindagi usi ki hai: A slow but a captivating one

9)Bekarar karke hamein: A song simply cant get simpler yet richer than this one.The silky voice of Hemant Kumar is like a fresh breeze whenever one hears this one.

10)Tere Bina Zindagi Se:by andhi is really a haunting number

I beleive I’ve left out a lot of’em, but dont know how to accomodate’em, say guide, Rajkumar.

Okay, moving on a bit to 70’s:

11)Yeh Jivan Hi is jivan ka:Well I believe Kishore Kumar was in full bloom in 70’s, ’n like Hemanth Kumar, needs no music, but is simply a delight to hear just their voice .

12)Anand, Silsila, Sharabi:Another series of Amitabh films that had some fab tracks with a perfect team sync among singers, music composers’n lyric writers that leaves u in a dilemma to choose the best among’em.

13)Aap jaisa koi.:This song set a new trend in bollywood, fuelled by Biddu

14)Har kisi ko nahin milta: from JaanBaaz, a disco trail blazer

15)Chehra Ha Ya.from Sagar, a romantic number, with good lyrics

Moving into my time,

16)QSQT: Maybe I was crazy over this one in my 6th or 7th grade, but still I luv everyone of’em

17)Pehla Nasha:Another soft but a nice number with an equally good video

18)Is dewani Ladki.:from Sarforosh, oooohh Sonali is stunning, apart from that also a nice shayari’n a catchy tune

19)Jiya Jale: A smashing song from Dil Se, with good score from a genius Rehman, ’n again Lata spinning her magic even now.

Among the latest ones on the block:

20)Kambhakt Ishq: I feel this song is well choreographed

Finally I suggest MS to include categories of top 20 of Kishore Kumar, Asha, RD Burman.

only then can there be some justice to the list, else I believe my list is an injustice to other masterpieces which I’ve left out.
