Well, inspite of my craving for Hollywood movies and a relative aversion towards their Indian counterparts Bllywood, I must admit that no one metes out more good music than Bollywood. After all, its music that finally decides the outcome of a Bollywood movie. But I’ll be the first to admit that my musical knowledge is very limited, in fact so limited that I’ve not been able to list the movie names or music directors of some of the songs given below. These are just songs which I’ve heard during some course of time and which have remained fresh in my mind until now. I’ve basically listed the ten top songs, here are the ones which would definitely belong in the top 20, but couldn’t make it to the final ten:-
Humko Hamise Chura Lo( Mohabbatein)
Apni Yaadon Ko( Pyaar, Ishq aur Mohabbat)
Chand Chuppa( Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam)
Oh Oh Jaane Jana( Pyaar Kiya To darna Kya)
Woh Pehli Baar( Pyaar mein Kabhie Kabhie)
Boondon Se baatein(Thakshak)
Taal Se taal Mila( Taal)
Ek Ladki Bheegi Bhaagi Si( Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi)
Tujhe Dekha To Yeh Jaana Sanam( DDLJ)
Dil Chahta Hai( Dil Chahtha Hai)
Kuch Kasme Hai Jawan(Aakhen)
Sach Keh Raha Hai{ Rehna Hai Terre Dil Mein}
10) Yeh Raat{ Aks}:- Haunting and seductive, disco lights and a gorgeous Raveena Tandon overflowing with oomph…what more could you ask for?!. Anupama’s voice has provided the perfect aesthetic and seductive touch to the song. The beats are catchy and tune rather unconventional. Lyrics by Gulzar and music by Anu Malik, an excellent combination in any sense have produced a winner in this one.
9) Suraj Hua Madham( K3G):- The only highlight of a rather insipid movie. Jatin-Lalit’s music is melodious and tuneful. The lyrics have a lot of depth and meaning in the sense that it captures all the romance of the moment. Though I personally feel that it could have done without the KKHH background inserted in middle.
8) Akele Hai To Kya Gum hai{ Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak}:- A traditional song on the basis of melody. Will do for pleasant hearing any day.
7) Tum Bin:- Simply mind-blowing lyrics by Faaiz Anwar and Chitra’s incredibly melodious voice. This song had a lot of meaning and emotions associated with it. It has the ability to convey the emotion on to the listener.
6) Shalimar( Shalimar):- I know I’ve been avoiding the classic oldies.well, perhaps I’ve saved the best for the last. This is one song which may surprise most people. Shalimar is definitely one of my favourite movies. A refreshing change from the same old melodrama and romance. And the perfect sound was provided by title track which went ‘ Mera Pyaar…Shaaaalimaaar’. I mean, it had so much mystery, romance and also simultaneously conveyed the enormousness of the ‘Shalimar’. Simply Incredible!
5) Kabhie Kabhie{ Kabhie Kabhie}: ‘ Kabie Kabhie Mere Dil Mein Khayaal Aata Hai
Keh Jaise Tujko Bana Ya Gaya Hai Mere Liye
Tu Ab Se pehle Sitaro Mein Bas Rahi Ti Kahi
Tujhe Zameen Pe Bulaya Gaya Hai Mere Liya ‘
Simple and Incredibly melodious. What more can I say?
4) Tadap Tadap( Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam):- Probably this movie’s album was one of the best ever made. It had so many good songs.I would have liked to put them all in, but it would have been more like Album review. But this particular song is my fav. Its fast, meaningful. A excellent ‘Sad’ song. Its one of those which makes you look up at the stars, if you get what I mean.
3) Pehla nasha/Yaha Ke Hai Hum Sikandar/ Oh Mere Dil ke Chain:- well, all three songs tie for this place. The first two are from ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander and the last.i have no idea. Two incredibly romantic songs and one which just dwells into the teenage mind. These are songs liked by one and all.
2) Dekha Ek Khwab To Yeh Silsile Huve:(Silsila):- What can I say about this song? Melody is defined by it. This song still gets my heart beatin…wonderful.
1) Ek Duje Ke Vaaste( Dil To Pagal Hai):- It all comes down to this. The perfect Love song. No song can match this song in https://lyrics. Not to mention the traditional tuneand the wonderful feeling that this song brings. This is what MUSIC is all about.
