Chicane's Chill Out Mix

If I tried to write a review of my top twenty songs I’d be here all night trying to decide what to include so I decided, following Venchasa’s lead, to do my top twenty chill out songs. These are the songs I play after a long night shift, when the kids have all gone to school and I need to unwind. They are all mellow and soulful and soft to varying degrees. So here it is in no particular order my chilled top twenty with comments where I can think of any!

  1. Maid of the River - Levellers

This track is about respect for the land and is both mellow and cautionary.

  1. Power of love - Frankie Goes To Hollywood

A truly beautiful and powerful love song. Includes my favourite lyrics ever I think.

’I’ll protect you from the Hooded Claw

Keep the vampires from your door

When the chips are down

I’ll be around

With my undying, death defying love for you’

3.Who Wants to Live Forever - Queen

4.Nights in White Satin - Moody Blues

I have liked this song forever

5.Sexuality - K.D.Lang

Slow, powerful, sensuous this is a very sexy song. It makes me feel all goose pimply!

6.Angel of the Morning - Pretenders

This is where Shaggy nicked the tune for Angel from!

7.Stir It Up - Bob Marley

8.Edge of the World - Levellers

9.Wicked Game - Chris Isaak

10.She’s The One - Robbie Williams

11.Fly With Me - Ricky Beadle-Blair/Mark Hawkes

From the soundtrack to a TV series on Channel 4 called Metrosexuality this track is another one to send shivers all over.

’ Have you not been where I have been?

Have you not seen what I have seen?

Have you not dreamed what I have dreamed?

Are you so caged that you can’t fly with me?

12.Too Much Love Will Kill You - Queen

So sad!

13.The Boatman - Levellers

Images of floating down the river, living the life you want without a care in the world - perfect!

’ My only law is the river breeze

Which takes me to the open seas

If I could choose the life I pleased

Then I would be a boatman’

14.Perfect Time -?

Can’t remeber who this track but it is from a compilation album of celtic music

15.Wonderful World - Louis Armstrong

Classic!

16.Taking It On - McDermott’s 2 Hours

Beautiful song about people accepting their differences and finding common ground on which to meet. Truly inspirational.

’I see where you stand, I can’t criticise

You work with your hands, I steal with my eyes

but see how our paths cross here

where the blues turn black

and the light flickers on in the beer

Just like a harmony blends,

we’re taking it on like friends’

17.Never Be The Same Again - Melanie C

18.The Crying Game - Boy George

19.It Must Have Been Love - Roxette

20.Whole Again - Atomic Kitten
