Brief Intro These are the top 20 songs that if you’re flat out looking to get thrown out of your seat are sure fire to do the trick. I did not go with the big hits per say but with the songs that really rock but also have great melodies. To help you understand their blasting power I have given each song a BP rating, 1 being the worst and 10 being the ultimate in blast effect. I hope this rating helps.

20) Pictures Of Matchstick Men - Status Quo Not really a rocker but this was the best of the psychedelic era and had to include it here. BP rating: 6
19) Waterloo - ABBA Would have been higher but the female vocals aren’t hard enough. This songs still rocks. BP rating: 7
18) Beach Baby - First Class Borders on bubble gum but this song does take off and really packs a punch. One of the best songs of the 70’s. BP rating: 7
17) Rubber Bullets - 10 CC Their first song before they made it big with I’m Not In Love. This song flies and is one of the more unusual songs of the 70’s. BP rating: 7
16) Don’t Bring Me Down - ELO For an orchestral group this song really packs a wallop. One of their best. BP rating: 7
15) Lonely Soldier - Lonestar This song starts slow which is why the low rating. But the last minute plus just explodes. This is one song you MUST hear. BP rating: 8
14) Somebody To Love - Jefferson Airplane Comes right out of the gate full steam. Let’s up a little bit and doesn’t quite peak which is why only 14. BP rating: 8
13) Only You Can Rock Me - UFO One of the greatest guitar solos ever in this tune. This one does rock me. BP rating: 8
12) Revolution - The Beatles This was really rockin for the time. One of the Beatles noisiest songs. BP rating: 8
11) Don’t Ever Wanna Lose Ya - New England A group that really deserved better. They never quite made it but this song is awesome. BP rating: 8
10) Time Has Come Today - Chambers Brothers This was just a super cool tune from the 60’s. These guys knew how to rock. A classic even to this day. BP rating: 8
9) Layla - Derik and the Dominos The beginning of this tune is just flat out come at you. Even the piano ending is awesome. BP rating: 8
8) The Shape Of Things To Come - Headboys Oh oh oh oh.The shape of things to come. This song was a flat our killer rock tune that was a flat out bomb. I don’t get it. BP rating: 8
7) Roll Over Beethovan - ELO One of the best covers ever in the history of rock and roll. A classic. BP rating: 8
6) Saturday Night’s All Right For Fighting - Elton John From the opening riff this song just flies at you. Easily Elton’s hardest rock tune. BP rating: 9
5) Birthday - The Beatles Another one that comes at you right out of the gate. This song is flat out beyond rockin. BP rating: 9
4) Love And Loneliness - The Motors This song is wall of sound and hard rock and incredible melody all in one. Another bomb that I just don’t get. Andy McMasters vocals are amazing. BP rating: 9
3) Born To Be Wild - Steppenwolf Remember them? Boy when this song first came on I almost fell out of my chair. Rocks from start to finish. BP rating: 9
2) Karn Evil 9 - Emmerson Lake and Palmer’Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends’. The most incredible musicians of all time, this song is beyond description if you’ve never heard it. A must hear. BP rating: 9.5
1) Easy Livin - Uriah Heep This song sounds amazing on a small transistor radio. It is only about 2 and a half minutes long which is a good thing because if they tried playing at that speed with that intensity any longer the band would all be dead. This is the perfect rock you out of your seat song and has never been topped yet. BP rating: 10
Bottom Line: If you’ve missed any of these, and I’m sure you’ve missed quite a few of them, do what you can to hunt these tunes down. You will never forget them, guaranteed.
