I am an ardent fan of Sonu Nigam. Well, the review I am going to write is my favorite list and it covers both film and non film numbers. It is a countdown of sorts.
20. Bol sajni - Doli saja ke rakhna
Sonu takes this song to dizzying heights. This song is a hindi remake from a Tamil song from the same AR Rehman.
- Ab mujhe raat din - Deewana
The most popular non-filmi number from Sonu. It was a chartbuster and remained on top for so long!
18.Is kadar pyaar hai - Deewana
One of the best non-film numbers from Sonu.
- Sandese aate hain - Border
Who can forget this song? It brings out the patriot in u, the friend in you, the lover in you, the son in you.(I really get tears when he mentions the passing breeze to touch his mothers feet). Hats off, Sonu(of course, Roop Kumar Rathod as well)!
16.Suraj Hua maddham- kabhie khushi kabhie gham
One of the most talked about and popular songs of Sonu and Alka Yagnik. This happens to be the favorite of Alka Yagnik.
15.Ahista Ahista - Yeh jindagi ka safar
Hey, this song is very very refreshing(unlike the movie)! Sonu really seems to enjoy singing this song. A very nice one!
14.Pehli Pehli baar baliye - Sunghursh
A song from Sunghursh which did not get the popularity it deserved.I think his duet partner could have been better.
13.Sarfaroshi ki tamanna - The Legend of Bhagat Singh
This song is one which could only have been sung by an extraordinarily gifted song like Sonu Nigam. He deserves special mention for it.
12.Tanhayee - Dil Chahta hai
Perhaps one of the best sad songs from Sonu which is extremely fast as well(surprisingly). A very soulful, difficult song for which Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy should get full credit.
11.kal ho na ho - kal ho na ho
Much has been said about this song. It needs no introduction. This song gave Sonu the place he deserved.
10.Do pal - Veer-zaara
One of the most beautiful duets from Sonu and Lata mangeshkar, music by .u know it.Late Madan Mohan.
9. Mera rang de basanti - The Legend of Bhagat Singh
Perhaps the most difficult song ever sung by Sonu. And he has done full justice to it. You just have goosebumps when u listen to this rendition.
8. Ae chand Khoobsurat-Yeh jindagi ka safar.
Many might not have heard this song but this is one of the best songs from Sonu.
7. Khamoshiyan gungunane lagi - One two ka four.
One song that turns me mad with craving for more. Reason: two of my favorites-lata Mangeshkar and Sonu lending vocals to this foot-tapping song from A.R. Rehman’s camp.
6. Humein jabse mohabbat ho gayi hai - Border
Perhaps the most soulful love song from Sonu and Alka Yagnik, this song soothes ur heart like none other might have done.
5. Aate jaate jo milta hai - Chori chori chupke chupke
A favorite of mine picturised on Salmaan Khan. A must listen for everybody. Surprisingly, it is missing from others’ lists.
4. Mujhe raat-din - Sunghursh
One of the best solo songs from Sonu Nigam, this song is probably the best from the combination of Jatin-Lalit and Sonu.
3. Mere humsafar - Refugee
Perhaps one of the best duets of Sonu and Alka Yagnik, this song is probably the best from Anu Malik as well. You just flow with the song and its melody.
2. Pyaar bhara geet - LOC
A very sweet number from LOC by Sonu and Shreya. You fall in love with the song the moment you listen it. Unfortunately, this song didnt receive the attention it deserved.
1. Kismat se tum - Pukaar
My all time favorite from Sonu and Anuradha Paudwal. They sing and lift the song to dizzying heights. An extremely melodious and difficult song as well.
