This is a movie starring Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock. A romantic comedy, this movie has good pace & a nice story. Acting by Hugh Grant is very good, especially his sense of timing.
Hugh portrays the character of Wade, a successful businessman while Sandra plays the part of a lawyer hell bent on preserving the environment. Wade plans to bring down a community centre for his business plans but he encounters Lucy who argues with him about the need for preserving the heritage structure.
She gets a job at his firm on the condition that he would not enforce his plan to bring down the building. She assists Wade in his business, & in the process becomes his advisor, assistant, counsellor & so many other things that soon, Wade finds himself helpless without her.
One of the interesting scenes in the movie was the divorce scene where Wades first wife alleges infidelity on his part due to which she tries to extract more compensation out of him. At this, Wade alleges to her lawyer that his first wife had slept with his accountant due to which her requests for monetary gains were not acceptable. At this, his first wife gets very angry & splashes water on Lucys face.
Another scene worth watching was when Wade plays chess with his friend / business associate & his friend comments that at least in chess, there are rules like which move to play, but with women, its unpredictable! Men are like pawns in their hands. It is great to see Hugh carry out this scene so admirably.
I will not reveal the story in its entirety but I feel that this movie is worth watching again and again.
