It’s been a year now, I have been using Uber and also it’s competitor Ola. I would say It is always better to go with Uber if I want to save money.
On Positive side:
1) The base fare is less. It’s just Rs.40 at chennai. The the rate per KM is also lesser than it’s Ola. If you have to go far a short trip, you can prefer a cab instead of handling the rude auto drivers.
2) App is very user-friendly. Their service is clear, they don’t do nonsense services like food/grocery supply unlike Ola. And App works even if you dont switch on GPS unlike Ola which does not work if you dont switch on GPS.
3) Great referal bonus. If your friend rides with your referal code, both of you will get Rs.300 whereas in Ola it is just Rs.100.
4) Accurate GPS positioning: You can see the status of your cab arrival on the app. You can get ready based on this information.
5) Booking will be acceptable if you have Rs.200 at your account. If your trips exceeds Rs.200, the balance will be in negative.You can re-charge it later and tally it. This is very useful for traveller as they dont have to worry for low balance while travelling.
A few negative points:
Advance booking(or ride later) is unavailable unlike Ola. This is one important feature Uber should think to add. I go with Ola only for this reason to reach railway station/Airport. Since I travel either in early morning or late night when I have to go outstation. To reach railway station/Airport, I want the cab booking to be in advance to avoid any hassle in last minute.
You can either pay by Cash or pay by wallet, Can’t do both at a time.
