After a series of controversies, film Udta Punjab has been released. Time to say how will it be liked by the viewers’ mass. However, I have a lot of apprehensions about this film as I have been closely watching after the developments on mass media on the eve of release of it. I detail a few of my observations as follows.
1) First of all, the theme of film is directed at a very serious issue that is the problem of drug addiction among the young people of the state of Punjab which is not significant absolutely and as it seems the script is more of in promoting the issue. To be simpler, what message does the film communicate to the society is completely gloomy.
2) A political motivation is hidden in the script which is a bit unethical from the viewer’s point of view which diverts the main orientation oft he film.
3) The cast is good but the script has weakened their roles in the script.
4) A lot of abusive languages are used in the film which are not sensor-ed and it may severely hurt the reputation of the stake holders of the film.
5) Although the film is given’A’ certificate, the visuals are at low so far as our Indian culture is concerned.
6) Moreover, middle aged people will certainly not like to go to watch the film for sure.
7) Regarding the revenue that it can generate, only time to reveal.
8) Nevertheless, the music may attract the young generation which may be the only positive thing about this film.
To my own perception, the film does not worth watching for anyone absolutely.
