#UdtaPunjab
When you come out of the hall and you look back at what youve just watched, it leaves you with a certain sense of emotion. While its not very defined, it could be disappointment because the film didnt match your expectations, joy because you loved what you just witnessed or indifference, but after so long, I came out of the theater feeling Proud.( The last time I felt this for a Hindi film was Haider.)
Udta Punjab is a really well-made film which is worth watching for more reasons than one. But I dont wanna get into what I liked and I didnt like because right now it doesnt matter.
What matters is that this country is finally getting the films it deserves.
What matters is that the reality we breathe, see and feel around has never been depicted in a more honest, sincere manner in India for a long, long time.
What matters is that a film has been made which does not focus on gimmicks or star-power or any conventional crowd-puller to attract its audience, but Raw, unadulterated storytelling instead.
What matters is that four free-spirited filmmaker-producers did not give in to archaic and outdated demands of censorship, did not meet them halfway, they stood their ground and they made THE FILM THEY WANTED.
More power to Kashyap, to Chaube, to Shahid, to Sudip Sharma and to everybody involved in Phantom for achieving this. And its up to us to go out there and support this Voice.
No Torrents, no bullshit, to be watched with a printed ticket in a Cinema Hall.
