Beautifully knocks out the cinematic stereotypes

As a testament to Anurag Kashyap’s earnest craving for unconventional content, this movie breaks the monotony that has repeatedly been plaguing the Bollywood Cinema. The movie revolves around a frantic quest for a kidnapped girl.

The father(a struggling actor: portrayed by Rahul Bhat) and step father(Ronit Roy as an IPS officer) both start searching for her, albeit more emphasis devoted to settle the score with each other. This movie stems from this malicious game of self-righteousness.

Step by step, Kashyap allows audiences to access an intricate web of tragic events with each successive event getting increasingly awry and engaging.

The story progressively tightens its grip on audiences and the climax aptly reflects a top-notch finish, offering a demonstrable evidence of Kashyap’s forte in exploiting the ‘Noir’ genre, and his remarkable ability in bringing a silver-screen-drama down to brutal reality.

Further, the intense performances by all artists contributed substantially towards carving out such a masterpiece. Apart from the thrill element that constitutes the core, showcasing a wide spectrum of emotional reactions emanating from greed, deception and cynical attitudes of the various characters renders this movie exceptionally striking.

Four-and-a-half stars!
