The title is not mycreation. It is the comment that came straight fromdil se of on of the movie watchers in the theater.
No offenses, but Umrao Jaan proves that JP Dutta should stick to arms and ammunition only or should I say he is better off on theBorders and so should stay away from any otherregions.
The period epic not just fails to create any impression but in fact bores the viewers to death. The stall crowd can simply be avoided by saying that it was not meant for the masses. but even the balcony crowd(or the elite / intellectual crowd) was devastated!
The story was supposed to be told with a backdrop of pre 1847 era then what was the year 2000 designed hand pump doing in Umrao Jaan’s house in Faizabad? There are so many such instances in the movie that clearly indicate how much attention to detail was given or rather how much attention to details was Not given.
The sher-o-shayri was pathetic. Take this –
humne choda zamana jinke liye
lo wo chod chale humko zamane ke liye
Can anyone see any literally value, any thought, any originality or intelligence in this?
Aiswarya’s charm and Abishek’s magic could not bind the interest of the viewers. Dances were lifeless. lots of movements but no grace or delicacy.
Even if I do not try to compare it with the old Umrao Jaan, the movie had less period-value and almost nil entertainment value.
