Agle janam mohe bitiya na kijo...

There is bound to be comparison between the music of old Umrao jaan movie and the new one. With due respects to the older version, this new version is also worth listening…

Almost all the songs are sung by Alka Yagnik except one by Richa Sharma, Sonu Nigam also got one song somehow.

The jewel of the crown is agle janam mohe bitiya na kijo…by Richa Sharma , its such a heart rending song that I was moved to tears…Richa has done such a wonderful job.

Songs sung by Alka Yagnik are all good, two of them are very good-

1.Jhute ilzaam meri jaan lagaya na karo…

2.Behka diya humein…with Sonu Nigam.Although he got only one song, he made good job of it as usual. Some portions of the song seem as we are listening to an old movie song, but intermixed nicely, doesn’t look like different from the song on the whole.

Other songs of Alka Yagnik are also worth listening , they have excellent lyrics and sung with great expressions-

1.Ek tute hue dil ki…opening music is same as older version, something to do with the music of that era.

2.Salaam…this song is shown in promos these days.Alka Yagnik has done good homework, I must admit singing is a very very tough job.

3.Pehle pehel…one of the happy songs, all other songs have an apparent sad feel to them in line to story of the movie.

4.Main na mil sakun jo tumse…’justuju’ word is used prominently in this song like older version, no wonder made on same novel…

5.Pooch rahe hain…sad song…more or less like sad songs in older version.Good https://lyrics.

There is another version of agle janam mohe bitiya na kijo…by one Anmol Malik, looks like picturised on a young person and sung also in a young voice, seems some relative of Anu Malik, voice strangely resembles with Malik’s nephew Arman who took part in Little Champs Saregama and was eliminated.

Many of the songs seem to be dance numbers with classical dance steps in between.

There is also a foreword by Javed Akhtar describing Umrao Jaan’s life and miseries.
