Salaam...umrao jaan ka....

Hello Friends, Umrao Jaan is one of the most awaited movie of the year and when we talk of any Indian movie, first thing that hits us is its music. Many a times it’s seen that music brings success to the movie even before its release.

Talking of the music of Umrao Jaan (NEW), I think its entirely different from the previous one. though there’s no IN ANKHON KI MASTI MEIN and DIL CHEEZ KYA HAI...it sounds good to ears. nobody can match the excellence of Rekh’a Umrao Jaan but one can’t deny the fact that music of New umrao jaan is picking up in the market. Though its not even been a week, most of my friends are rushing to music stores to get a copy of the music CD. I don’t remember if I came across such madness for the music in the last few years.

Bahka Diya.....

This is the only duet in the album and to my surprise fast to catch on the emotions. After the title track of hum dil de chuke sansm, it’s the only slow song that has caught my attention as far as its music and lyrics are concerned. Sung by Sonu Nigam and Alka Yagnik, the song promises a lyrical flow of music. While listening to this song, one feels as if he has been transported to another world. The people who say that nobody can sing like Asha Bhosale, then here is Alka Yagnik, trying to not only match with a Legend like asha but also trying to give her best to Umrao Jaan that completely depends upon music. Khayyam Sahab gave such wings to Muzzafar Sahab’s umrao jaan that it’s simply impossible to bring it down to earth but here’s another team that is trying to (atleast) trod the half way.....

Jhute Ilzaam Meri Jaan Lagaya Naa Karo....

Alka Yagnik catches your attention once again with a song that matches the ’natkhatpan’ of MAARDALA (DEVDAS) and the soberness of In AANKHO KI MAST...(OLD UMRAO JAAN). It takes you to the era forgotten. You can feel Umrao Jaan singing for you and if I am not exaggerrating then your heart will skip a beat when you’ll listen to this song.

Main Na Mil Saku Jo Tumse...

a message that Umrao Jaan tries to convey through her song. The whole song touches you like a BALLAD. You feel it in your heart but it doesn’t come to your lips, yet you have a feel of emotional tireness. It’s just impressive...it adds another feather to the cap of the team of Umrao Jaan. If Rekha’s Umrao Jaan caught you by neck then this is sure to take you to face-to-face to Amiran, Her life and her turmoil...

Pooch Rahe Hai.....

Another Mujra which will give you a feel of NOVELTY. It’s not gross like ’tumhari adao pe mein wari (Mangal Pandey)’. It’s a decent and lovely presentation of any Mujhra, and J P Dutta is said to have done immense research on the subject and lifestyle of the bygone era therefore one can rely upon him and listen to the touching tracks...

Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya....

There’s a change and Alka Ji takes a Break. This song is sung by Richa Sharma. Her voice has the range that matches Shubha Mudgal and Reshma. She is too sensitive when it comes to singing. I don’t think also if Alka ji would have been able to do justice to the song...it needs entirely different mood and aura.

The song brings in focus the pain of a lady who has been literally thrown into the sorrowful life of Courtesan.

This song is again sung by Anu Malik’s daughter Anmol Malik. Good effort is all I would like to say to her. She has an element of innocence, I hope and wish her to outcast all singers.

Ek Toote Huye....

It’s a short number, approximately 2 minutes. It’s simply great. Music is minimal but the dialogues and lyrics touches you....you just can’t beat this one however critical you may get.

Pehla pehal...

Lovely song. I haven’t seen such mujhra over the last few years. If I have to say that It is the best of its kind then I won’t be wrong, because it’s what I am saying and to feel the essence of it, you need to go out and buy a copy for yourself since hearing is beleiving in this case.

There was lot of pressure on anu Malik, since it’s not a difficult task to create the magic and try to stand at the same platform which Previous Umrao Jaan holds. The music is good and I am sure this will make all his critics to go gaga over his effort.

This music is fresh and heart-touching. Every note touches your heart. But why? How? is what you have to find out for yourself....boy it now.

Lyrics: -

Gulzar Sahab and Javed Ji, they have maintained poetry in FILMI MUSIC. And Javed sahab doesn’t put us off, he creates a magic that is unsurpassable.
