Home from home...

Referred to as ‘Little India’. Why? Need you ask…. There are too many Indians there!

The land of opportunity as it was sometime ago, now is probably a place just for touring and not for settling. Don’t get me wrong. I don’t mean the place has been spoilt by our brethren there, just that the economic climate around Europe is not as healthy as it used to be and UK has not escaped the downturn.

Around UK, you’ll find a lot of beautiful places to visit, that is if you ever get out of London. Most tourist seem to flock in and around London but try the Shakespearean county, Devon, Cornwall, Wales, Scotland but to name a few.

My favourite area in the UK is Cornwall. Lovely tree lined lanes for those romantic drives, beautiful beaches and plenty of entertainment in and around the sea-side towns and villages. Blackpool is also worth a visit around October - November for the famous light show. Try Lake District for those beautiful sites and sounds away from the hustle and bustle of the cities – a nature lovers dream!

There are a lot of amusement parks such as Alton Towers and American Adventure Park, zoos and safari parks and every town has at least one (if not more) public swimming baths.

The UK has a very good network of roads (called the motorways) and the average speed is around 70 miles per hour – compare that to our deshi roads and speed. The trains are another good way to travel within Britain, they also have a good bus/coach service providers as well.

If you are one of those people that miss the home cooking when away, then fear not! Try going to Ealing Road, Wembley if you are in and around London.

Belgrave road in Leicester really is little India where you will find anything and everything to do with Indian way of life (masalas to sarees, hair pins to Indian furniture, dosas to thalis).

Local delicacies to try are their world famous Fish and Chips, Melton Mowbry Pork Pie or even the Cornish pastie AND don’t miss those yummie fresh cream cakes specially from a chain of shops named Coombs.

If you need more info just let me know…..
