I think I had a rotten luck when I booked my travel from Chidambaram to Bangalore with Universal travels, Chidambaram. My hubby reserved the ticket online for me, almost a week prior to journey. As I was traveling alone, he reserved a ladies seat for me.Generally, no males are allotted the seat next to a ladies seat, as far as I know..........but this time I experienced that, and that also through a bitter situation. The weather was bad on the day of my journey, it was raining so much around 8 pm to 9pm at Chidambaram, and no transportation was available at that time. Finally I managed to reach the travel agency by auto.I was quite drenched, and after convincing the travel agent sitting there (he doesnt understand English properly, somehow managed to make him understand) got a broken chair to sit. That was also fine to me, as the bus arrived on time. Once I got into the bus, the real game started. The passage between the rows of seats was so narrow, and they had no arrangements other than the overhead cabinet to put the luggages. So I had to keep my small trolley bag in that narrow passage, to others inconvenience.I dont have proper knowledge about Tamil Nadus map, so cant say which way the bus was going. The journey was comfortable till Neyveli, where my co passenger got down. I managed to put the trolley at the bottom of my seat after a lot of struggle, and pushed back my seat to relax. But my luck did not favor for a long time. After half an hour, the helper came when the bus came to a stop, and told me that my seat is allotted to a couple, so I have to come and seat on the single seat next to the door!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!What the .......................!!!!!!!!The couple had 2 kids, an infant of 6 months and another a baby of 2 years, and they were fully drenched in rain.Seeing their condition, I didnt have any other choice............again the same struggle with the trolley, and I got shifted to the single seat after a lot of argument with the helper and the co passengers. To my astonishment, not a single person came to help me out a little, but others made fun of my language problem!!!!!!!!!!Hello, am I still in India, where Hindi is still the Rashtra bhasha, and English is the most common Language?I think, Necessity should be made that all the tour operators should learn English.I could not sleep the whole night, as I was suffering from so much discomfort in that narrow seat with no foothold. Moreover the couple was not allowing me to push the seat back, as it was inconvenient for them......I had no energy left for the next fight..God was kind, the bus was on time to Bangalore. But something was left till the time. The operators misled a person who was travelling in the bus, and had the same language problem. They made him get down 2 stops prior to his original stop.......I watched helplessly, as the person didnt listen to my words. When the bus came to a final stop at Kalasipalyam, I got down as fast as I can, and never took a second look towards the bus. I wanted to lodge a complaint to the Bangalore office, but.....as told before, I really had no energy left after the sleepless night, and those arguments. Next 3-4 days suffered from horrible back pain as a result of sitting in that uncomfortable seat. Vowed against using their service again, and next time I visit Chidambaram, I am going to book the bus with some other agency, but never with Universal travels.
