This novel tells the story of a young girl from a village. It all plays in a world with magic.
Every 12 years or so the hexer from the castle comes and gets a girl to come with him and live with him, which is okay for everyone cuz he protects them from the evil woods.
The protagonist is described as plain and stubborn but gets chosen by the hexer anyway.
It turns out that the hexer does not rape these girls but teaches them magic and lets them cook for him. The girl ends up helping to fight against the woods and plays a crucial role. There even is slight romance in it.
The novel is writen beautifully and lets you feel as if u are part of this magical world and the adventures. It does not have an ending you’d expect but one that you need
