Union Public Service Commission- yeoman service

The UPSC or Union Public Service Commission situated on Shahjahan Road, New Delhi, is the Commission which recruits the Group A ( earlier called Class I) officers for various services. It also recruits some Group B( earlier Class II) officers for the Government of India.

It issues advertisements for the posts to be recruited through interviews and for many posts it holds competitive examinations. The most prestigious services it holds exams for are the civil services-IAS, IPS, IFS, ICC&ES, IITS, ICAS, IPoS etc.

By and large the process is very well organised leaving hardly any room for complaints or grievances and the selections are fair.

The UPSC is held in high regard for ensuring that promotion rules are followed and injustice is not done in promotions, when Departmental Promotion Committees sit for considering promotions in the various services it recruits officers to.

There is hardly any room for manipulations by way of recommendations or ’’sifarish’’.

It has a website also.
