Have been wanting to write about this place forever, but havent managed to...Seven Bungalows in Andheri West is choc-a-bloc with eating places...and Urban Tadka is one of the best here.
The restaurant is packed to (and most days, over) capacity and they do not take table bookings ! The wait can be very long and there is not too much place outside (as it is on a busy street)...but trust me, it’s worth it...
The seating capacity is not huge - one ground level and the other a raised platform. The decor is fabulous and you have to see it to experience it (By the way, the video ’Vinchoo Chavala’ with Marc and Waluscha Robinson was shot here...maybe before the restaurant actually opened...see the ’’faces’’ on the ceiling - that is the give-away).
Now let me go to the reason for the huge popularity of this place - THE FOOD !!! It’s amazing and here are the must-haves on the menu - and the menu is on a small slate :) - so is the clock outside...these are my personal favourites...
1) Nimbu chicken - very little gravy, subtle lemony-tangy taste...more like a starter
2) Ambarsariya murgh - red gravy
3) Murgh Kaali Mirch - not too spicy (as the name might seem) - yellowish gravy
4) Tawa Jheengey - Yummy prawn dish
5) Tawey ki subzi - mixed veggies
6) Dum Aloo Gobhi
7) Lassi
From what I’ve heard the keema-pao is also great...
So go on...and taste the ’Urban Tadka’...you will not regret it...
