Essential Oils

Essential Oils:

The oils work within 3 days, directly by smell and also by being absorbed through the skin into your blood stream in very small quantities. Sometimes both methods work in harmony to produce the desired result.

Carrier Oils:

These have good skin penetration, this leaves the skin feeling soft and supple.

A Few Uses Of Essential Oils:

Massage - mix up to 5 drops of essential oil with 10ml of carrier oil.

Bath - add up to 5 drops of essential oil to a bath and leave for a few minutes before getting in.

Inhalation - add up to 5 drops of essential oil to a bowl of very hot(not boiling) water and inhale steam.

Hair Rinse - A few drops of essential oil can be added to the water for the final rinse.

Skin Care - A few drops can be added to creams and lotions.

Vaporisation(my favourite) - A few drops of essential oil can be added to a light bulb ring or a ceramic oil burner.

My favourite essential oil is Lavender. It has a sweet, fresh floral scent with woody undertones. It is comforting, soothing and relaxing. Traditional it’s used for head clearing, tired muscles and joints, skin care.

I also like Ylang Ylang, this means flower of flowers. It has a powerful floral scent(sweet, spicy) It’s soothing, relaxing and sensuous. Traditional it’s used for, stresses of everyday life, relaxing, skin care.

Cautions:

Essential oils should be kept out of the reach of children.

Essential oils should never be used undiluted on the skin and should be kept away from the eyes.

It is advised to seek that you see your G.P. before using essential oils if you are pregnant, have epilepsy or course of treatment with prescribed medication.
