This is a take off L from my previous well written, well thought out and well accepted and rated review! The review suddenly decided to go astray and I have still not found it…so till the time MS helps me on this…you can read what I still remember of the review…!
Dedications first…This review was and still is dedicated to “foodies” like me who not only survive but live for food…we are those creatures who just by sheer aroma of food get hungry…you can imagine when we see the sight of food then;-)
“Useful healthy eating habits”- A category which according to me fits in somewhat to what I am about to describe…It is certainly about eating, it is about habits(or should we say trends!) and certainly it is bound to be useful…or may be very useful!
Food! The term itself has come of age now…the food earlier meant a means of survival, a necessity…it is still a survival tool but the necessity has transformed into a luxury…a luxury which is available at a good price, has unlimited options and is dependent on good publicity…mouth to mouth I mean~(pun unintended)
So when we now talk of food we are not talking of the mundane breakfasts, lunches and dinners but talking of food which is usually used for binging and snacking! The usual BLD(B/fast, lunch and dinner) still occupy a fixed spot on the eating plates but a whole new gamut of food items are also vying for the same spot…and stomachs and tongues are enjoying this battle of sorts…!
Coming to what is healthy and what is not…I refuse to comment on it…for me food is food and anything edible and looks good, can be consumed…without much thought! So I thought of letting the world know my top 5 food/drink items which now have made way to our plates, pockets( I mean through the money!) and surely to our taste buds. These may/ may not be consumed by you all but they are famous and are being consumed in plenty!
1. Corns- Steamed corns are fast becoming an easy, healthy alternative to the boring popcorns. These are available almost everywhere(in Delhi) and are easy on pocket too. Adi would still argue that corns are fattening but I still like eating them and it makes snacking fun;-) And I stick to the famous lines which says- " all good men are either married or gay.and all good food is either fattening or expensive!
Nariyal Paani- Of course many of you thought that this is a “southie” delight but you would be happy to know that “Northies” are also gulping glassfuls/bucketfuls…nariyalfuls of this water and appreciating it too! It is a healthy drink and is good for health and wealth too;-) So keep drinking…and the drinking gang renamed Shyam and his gang can just sigh…! Thakur, Doctor and the rest.you all were included in the gang.if you did not realise;-)
Momos- Of course who would debate that one? Momos have given a unique taste and an identity to the thousands of North East Indians who till date were faceless.steamed, fried, veg or non veg.momos are loved by one and all.it has a unique taste surely and not many digest this fact.so in case you are open to a healthy alternative to samosa, try Momos.with the very spicy chutney.and you will just ask for more and more!
Pasta, Red/Yellow Pepper and brocolli- Time to say " Thank you" to Sonia ji;-) She has made Italy proud.I mean Pasta and Pizza never had this good.they are being eaten by one and all with the special flavors like peppers and brocolli which sound exotic but taste the same;-) Homes which were till now cooking Maggie, are now cooking Pastas and Brocolli salads which are not healthier but taste good! So what are you waiting for.if you are in the age group of 15 and above and like eating, try being exotic.!
Mocha, Cappaccino and Iced Tea- Time for some more drinks.! Cafe outlets are the new centres for important discussions, event locations and the best way to spend a lazy time! Who would imagine that iced tea with that color and taste would now be the only alternative to any hard/soft drink? It has indeed changed the way we drank and what we drank.our tastebuds are now immune to the strong tastes of Mocha and even too the lemon flavors! Just remembered.Shanti and me had some important discussions too.in a CCD.the details of which would not be disclosed since it was mainly about saints and followers;-)
Well that is what I still remember.there would be a lot I missed.may be the early commenters can "throw more light" on this one! The review was written primarily to showcase the food habits or trends of Delhi.for other states.kindly ask others;-)
Comments are already in place.! Thank you for all the love, support and kind words you all gave on my untimely loss;-) it is well appreciated.and since this is my 75th review.I had to get this one back.and it is back!
