''VASAKA '';useful in chronic cough

USEFUL  HERB-   “VASAKA “

These are  “leaves ‘ of a plant  which are grown more on south of India. These plants are called “Adhoda Vasic”.

Even this plant has go small fruits and flowers. Leaves;fruits and flowers are together used as “medicines” since ancient India;purely Ayurvedic medicines with “NO SIDE EFFECTS”.

USEFULNESS-

1)All  ( leaves;flowers;fruits;even roots) are good “CHOLAGOGUE” are used in any type of

“JAUNDICE”.

2)The principle alkaloids of the plant known as “VASICINE and VASICONE “ have bonchodiltory effect.

So they are used in severe cough; particularly chronic cough with dyspnoe(breathlessness).

3)Vasicine has effect of increasing “RESPIRATION”and “Hypotensive” effect. So can be used in severe cough with high blood pressure.

4)On uterus it acts as “uterine tonic”and also has activity of increasing “platelets”i.e.it can stop irregular uterine bleeding; particularly after child delivery.

5)On prolonged use it is found to have “anti-allergic effect. So this type of “anti-histamine”(unlike “AVIL” or  LORFAST” what we use commonly) does not cause drowsiness.

If we remember in good old days a common cough formula syrup used to be available by name.**”TERP-

VASAKA”.** It was so safe to use; we used to give to small kids  also without  any fear.

But in today’s world of commercialization of medical products these GENUINE MEDICATIONS have

disappeared from  Indian market. We are totally depending on “western medicines”although they are also very useful; but cannot take place of OLD INDIAN AYURVEDIC MEDICINES!
