''What Runs But Cannot Walk?''

Q. What is a fart? Why does it smell?

A. Fart is a combination of gases such as Nitrogen, Oxygen, Carbon Dioxide, Methane, Hydrogen, Hydrogen Sulphide that travels from persons stomach to their anus. Scientific name is flatus. Foods containing sulphur like cheese, cabbage, soda, eggs etc. give fart the bad smell.

Does anybody here feel enlightened? Well interesting facts follows?

1) on an average, healthy person farts 16 times a day and I am not doing any gender discrimination here and animals are no exceptions here.

2) Fart containing methane and hydrogen are flammable.

Now how many MS members find this embarrassing and how many find it interesting? I have build a nice community on this site and in all earnest, I do not want to disgust any single of them.

Now lets look at it in sober way. I have noticed that most MS members are engineers, MBAs, students and professional people who are able to think rationally. So suppose you are participant in a GD and the topic given is ’’Is Knowledge Useful’’?, will you opt the ’’for’’ side or the ’’against’’?

For me, this is really bemusing. All my life, my parents and relatives have always encouraged me to learn and keep seeking knowledge. ’’Knowledge combined with experience enables you to be more rational, matured and professional in your approach. Knowledge is useful! You may not realize it now but it will definitely help in the long run’’ are some of the dosages that I keep receiving but somehow they are not convincing and if I find them orthodox, grandmother will quote, ’’People are becoming crorepatis on KBC and CPK because of their knowledge’’. White flag from my side!

Great, can knowledge be useless? Why then does the word ’’trivia’’ exists? How useful would it be for me and you to know that Bill Owens was a great singer and was born on 21 Jan 1920 OR during Vietnam wars, women protested against war by burning their bras!

Welcome To World Of UselessKnowledge.com

The home page is neatly done and is at its ’’purple glory’’ listing details on topics listed as quote of the day, fact of the day, word of the day, today in history, born today, daily trivia bite. They call it ’’trivia’’. As per the definition of this word I agree that the details are facts and are indeed useless (at least for me) but I really did not find them amusing. It is just like Shakti Kapoor’s comedy - does not appeal to the senses and in no way makes me laugh or giggle and yet cannot be classified as anything other than comedy.

But then check on ’’Daily trivia question’’ at the center of page and better still the way these scrambled letters assemble to give the answer (when you move mouse cursor over it).

On the left is World of trivia that caters to Great Britain, Canada and USA, Directory of quotes, Conundrum corner, Vocabulary Builder and ’’Bad Predictions’’? Does it seem too much? Not really! Most links lead to same source.

Try ’’Odd One Out’’ from Visual Puzzle under Conundrum Corner (huge list under different headings.....this is by far the best section). It will help develop the reasoning power especially for those giving entrance like CAT etc.

Classification of such trivia are also provided in terms of areas of interest such as history, entertainment, sports etc. This explains about maneuverability.

I found some facts presented down to great details such as What is phobia. Besides the definitions, there is a complete A-Z listing of all the phobias that exist. As an example,

chrometophobia = fear of money

Sesquipedalophobia = fear of long words.

Forget long words, I could not pronounce it in first attempt!

The vocabulary builder that gives a word and its meaning is a less discreet form of https://m-w.com (Merriam Webster site). I say this because a section also takes us to the origin of words and phrases. This part cannot be termed ?useless? at all or else why would Norman Lewis books sell in such large volumes?

Random quotes from I-don’t-know-who people and bad predictions made by famous personalities/institutes/industries, which was proven greatly wrong by present times/technologies are other two non-interesting features.

Then there are puzzles/riddles to test ones knowledge of utter useless facts. I scored a zero. Then we have one big section of puzzles such as science quiz, maths quiz, arcade quiz! ...even dead quiz....DO NOT ATTEMPT ANY OF THESE....they are utterly...well ’’USELESS’’.

Then there is ’’silly story’’ and oh my God...Silly survey. This site is impossible! Just a piece of advice....stay away from these sections. The stories are so insanely kiddish and just as name suggests ’’SILLY’’.

There are also Toon cards analogous to e-greetings but punch lines at bottom states facts. Are they useless?

Well this site is certainly not worth book marking, but sure visit it from time to time to gain knowledge.

Another useless suggestion I guess.
