I have arthritis and osteoarthritis, ( breakdown of the cartilage). It causes aches, swelling of the bones and joints. The older you get the worse it gets. Nothing seemed to help me.
1 in 10 Canadians have this problem. The signs that you have it are pain, stiffness and swelling around a joint. The joins that are affected the most are the fingers, thumbs, hips, knees, feet and spine.
My doctor suggested that I try MSM, (methylsulfonylmethane). He also told me that it wouldn’t cure anything and it might take from 3 to 5 weeks to help.
I went to the drug store and bought a bottle that had 150 tablets and each one had 1000 mg. in it. I followed his instructions to take one a day.
The second day my hip stopped aching stopped and so did the clicking under my right knee.
I have now been using this for 5 weeks.
I was eating a lot of fresh fruits, vegetable, fish, grains and had a glass of milk a day, and that should have been enough sulfur to have helped me.
What Does MSM Do:
It "oils my joints". My doctor told me it might help restore some bone loss but that would be up to my body.
One Caution:
Some Doctors of Internal Medicine and Rheumatologists are not sure that MSM helps anything or it might interfere with other medicines their patients are taking.
Make Sure:
Do not take MSM unless your doctor tells you to.
Buy MSM from an company that makes excellent medicines and vitamins.
Don’t take more than 1000 milligrams a day.
Tell your doctor if you get an allergic reaction, a skin rash, mild cramps, your stomach feels upset or get diarrhea. If MSM has been helping you your doctor may lower the dosage.
I Take:
MSM in tablets that cost me$12.00 CAD from London Drugs in Victoria. It also comes in liquid and cream bottles. I have not tried these because I’m very happy with what I’m taking.
To help with the pain I take Advil gels, four times a day.
I Hope:
If you try MSM you will be patient. If you don’t see any difference after two months stop taking it.
