Recently went to this property after visiting it sometime in 2006. The deterioration in the quality of the rooms was a big dampener in what was otherwise a very pleasant stay.
In terms of the property, it is probably one of the best in Matheran with a huge open area and phenomenal greenery(with numerous monekys also!). The swimming pool, though not very large, is quite clean and the poolside bar adds to the attraction. However, the best way to while away time is just to roam around the property. One can play badminton, table-tennis and carrom.
While the property is maintained quite well, the rooms are in bad shape with wood on doors chipping away, shoody repaint on bathroom doors and latches not working on the doors. The staff however maintains the general cleanliness and hygiene of the rooms quite well.
The food is quite good though the breakfast has very limited choice. The in-house singer regales you with some great ghazals during dinner-time.
Overall, the experience is quite good but rates during the peak season(for weekends) are somewhat steep, especially considering the quality of the rooms.
