This place claims to be the finest in Matheran . if it really is, then Matheran certainly lacks a decent place to stay.
I booked this place at a short notice(3-4 days) during Sep 09. The booking was hassle free and they collected the chq from my place in Mumbai. The rate offered was at the higher side(about 5.5K for one night).
The resort is spread over a large area has a decent swimming pool, badminton, TT facilities etc.
Now the sad part - * *
a) The room was smelly, poorly furnished(bizarre choice of color - Black curtains!), the AC was not working, there was no ceiling fan, phone was not working(which meant you have to walk all the way to the reception for room service). They got the AC working after some 30 mins of complaining.
b)The bathroom had a constantly leaking tap, there was no toilet paper and hot water is supplied only from 7 am to 11 am, so in case you want to have a bath, forget lazing around in the bed till late.
c) If all this was not enough, there was a deafening noise of construction activity in the resort, they were apparently constructing few more rooms. But this might not get replicated in future experience.
d) Food is included in the package; they serve a Thali during lunch - which is the only edible food. Dinner is a buffet and they served some Chinese stuff which would remind you of the once a week Chinese food attempt at your hostel mess. The buffet breakfast was the saddest of the meals - cold toast, no juice, no fruits, no sandwiches, very sad poha and idli/wada.
And yes – there was a gazal singer during the dinner, but that was not enough for me to forget the food.
Overall I was highly disappointed by the experience, and will not recommend this place to anyone.
