How many boys do you think would bother to write a review on sewing machines?
Well, hoping to be an exception, my review is targeted to all sewing hobbyist who know the asthetic value of a multi functional sewing machine & especially to those talented homemakers like my mother who just love being creative with fabrics.
I bought it about 2 years back. It was an ideal gift for my mother. Stitching is her hobby and she is really good at it. Since ages she has been using a traditional Singer Merritt machine which had limited functions. So this came as a welcome change to her interest & something very new that she could explore in her forte.
About the Product:
Usha Janome’s Wonder stitch is not a commercial use machine; in fact it is a home use personal sewing machine for those who still prefer to stitch their own cloths & various other fabrics at home or for those who just love sewing as a hobby.
The machine is originally developed and made in Japan by company named Janome; whereas it is imported in India and sold under collaboration with Usha International. The product is packed with lots of features for creating different types of embroideries and stitching functions.
Features in short:
This machine is capable of doing fantastic sewing designs, stitching, zig-zag, picot, embroidery, button holing, button fixing, darning, quilting, cording stitch, smocking, fine blind hem stitch, over edging, lace work & satin stitch. For detailed function list you can visit company website.
User’s Experience:
Now all that features you read above sounds good and fancy in product brochure and manual book, but what determines the real worth of a product is its usefulness and ease to operate. So does this product really stand up to its expectations?
Well the answer is YES.
My mom is really happy using this new machine. This has opened all new avenues for her hobby and she really likes to experiment with it. She has been making new designs and she is busy exploring new ways of stitching and making beautiful craft items for home decor.
Initially she found it little complicated as there are few settings to be made for different stitching types but the free demo provided by company really helped her. She was quick to pick up whatever was demonstrated by the service guy who came to give free demo at our place.
Ok, for those who find this product overpriced can look for a little less priced alternative, ‘Usha Allure’ which almost has the same functions, (except a few features of wonder stitch) but it is equally useful. I had initially ordered Allure but then only the design and look of ‘Wonder Stitch’ changed my buying decision.
Service experience:
Overall I had a good experience purchasing this product. Seller was very informative and cordially polite. Same with the service guys who arrived at my home for free demo, just on a single call. This product is easy to maintain and needs very less servicing. Service needs to be done only if there are any performance issues, but that you are rarely to come across. You just need to put some oil in its moving parts at regular intervals & that’s pretty easy.
Conclusion:
This is an easy to use sewing machine which is equipped with multiple stitching functions to help you explore your creative talent in stitching. It is an excellent Japanese machine designed with precision to give you a right tool to pursue your love for crafting fabrics.
"It is such a fun thing to watch this machine doing its work, that at time you really feel like trying your hands on it. Yes, even I tried it couple of times and trust me it really caught my interest. Usha Janome’s Wonder Stitch is a wonder in real terms and it will definitely add value and element of joy to your creative talent.”
Please note: At time when I bought this machine the Dollar price in terms of INR was pretty low so I bought it for Rs. 8, 500/- but sadly now its price has been hiked to Rs. 10, 500/- owing to our currency devaluation.
