What can you expect for free?

There are many free ISP’s out there. Some better than others, some with limited time and most with annoying banner ads that pop up on you.

However there is always a chance that your main ISP can be down and you can’t get online otherwise. I have had this happen and was unable to get on the net for 2 days.

Recently changing to cable modem (which by the way is great) I was wondering if I had a use for an ISP and I still have my old one on my computer as I had paid in advance and wanted to get my money’s worth.

I soon will be taking it off. However even with cable there is a chance that it can be out for periods of time and I am going to download a free one for emergency use only. I am addicted to the net so can’t stand it when I can’t get on.

I would not recommend a free one as your main ISP but would recommend it as a back up.It costs you nothing and is there if you need it.

Make sure you read the terms of agreement when signing up for one. If they limit you to a certain number of hours before charging be sure and keep track.

If you wanted to run totally free you could download 2 or 3 and go from one to another when your time has been used up or if one is giving you a problem.

Also be sure they have a local access number or that free service could really rack up into a lot of money and cost you more than a paid service.

The one that I like and have not had problems with is from my points. You collect points beside having the free service which you can turn in for gift certificates. They also send you e-mails to read for points even if you don’t use the ISP if you sign up and surveys to take and I earn about 2 gift certificates from them in a year.

That may not sound like much but combined with other certificate programs that I am in they come in handy for my son at Christmas who is 3 thousand miles away and he loves getting the envelope of certificates which costs me nothing but some time.

Back to what I was saying. I did have this ISP on at one time and had no problems but there are many to choose from out there so check some out and give a couple of them a try and you might just find one that you like.
