Being located in the prime location of I.R.C. Village, and considering it’s accessibility, this could have been a very good hospital. But it’s totally contrast. When you see its sign board which says’Usthi Hospital and Research Center’ you will naturally expect something good. But Enter the hospital and you are into a different world.
No patient’s lift to carry the stretcher/trolley. The patients will have to be carried manually to even the 5th floor. all the way climbing stairs.
No portable machinery. for everything the patient need to be carried up/down, be it a simple x-ray or ultra sound.
Even being a charitable body, the charges are nothing less than any luxury hospitals in the city.
Just one Nurse and One doctor managing 6 beds of the ICU.
No Hygiene, the housekeeping staff are too laid back to even respond to the patients’ cries.
No permanent doctors available, only visiting and on call doctors available. They do not respond when contacted later by the patient.
Now the most critical part, the doctors & treatment.
They care a lot about bringing in (referring)patients to the hospitals, out of which they get considerable percentage.
Once the patient is admitted, the doctors try their best to extract money from them. Example
1) Holding back the patients in the hospital unnecessarily, in the name of’Observation’.
2) Charging the patients unreasonably, (patients should always ensure to double check the detailed bills)
3) Wasting the blood collected for the patients.
4) The doctors advise for multiple operations to be conducted on critical patients, which in turn deteriorates the patients’ health, but increases the hospital’s bank balance.
5) The doctors who come on call basis, do their job n flee. Later when contacted by the patients, they never respond. In short they do not take complete responsibility of the patients admitted under them.
These are just a few things about this terrible hospital. The patients never get cured here, the doctors just ensure to suppress the disease for a short span. Thereby ensuring re-visit of the patients.
As it is there are hardly 1 or 2 hospitals in Bhubaneswar worth mentioning for good treatment. Please ensure to consult 10 different doctors in and out of Orissa before getting treated in any hospitals in the city.
