Greatest Crime Story of this century

This is one of the best movies of all time; especially under the suspense/crime story category.

Though, this movie created lots of interests a decade back still I am writing this review. I have purchased the DVD and I have seen this movie as many times as I can.

What really excites me is, this movie goes till the last minute or shall I say till the last second! Very rarely any movie takes you to that far.

This is one of those movies where viewing multiple times will not bore you. Infact, every time when you see this movie there may be new angle revealed.

It is a very ordinary story of a small time crew (thieves) engaged in misdemeanor activities hauled up in a jail for a totally uncertain and unexpected line-up.

Preceding the above mentioned scene a major fire in a ship that is anchored in one of the Santa Monica port! People may tend to forget the brief dialogue in the first scene by Byrne (acting as Keaton) before the ship is burned. But they will understand the meaning only in the end.

Director shadows the main story and tries to confuse the viewer with the narration style story telling. Unless the viewer imagines the mind of the person who is telling the story it is very hard to comprehend what the movie is all about.

The story teller who is a physically challenged person narrates the climax of the film; yet it is not the climax. This person narrates the story of the crew from the line-up till the “climax” which involves so many small time robberies and killings. In this movie characters are portrayed differently than in any typical movie. Every character has some sort of weakness which is being exploited very effectively.

Director did an excellent job of telling the story by going back and forth. The focus is more on keeping the secret till the end.

Characters like Keyser Soze, Kobayashi are simply superb. The beauty of these characters is that they are so real yet so unbelievable; this is mind-boggling.
