A Stunning Classic!

The Usual Suspects is an ’IN-YOUR-FACE!!!’ sort of movie, which is what makes it so great. Director Bryan Singer did a perfect job of introducing the cast. From then on he directed it so that you could pick up only slight clues leading up to its very talked-about ending. I found this film to be brilliant in the least sense, and for very good reasons.

First of all, I loved it’s complexity, which is what always makes a movie great. Having complex storylines really challenges ’’you’’ the viewer, to think and ponder all of the possibilities that could happen in this truly enticing film. Also, it lacked tediousness, and was right to the point and a good length. The film begins with a ’’boom’’ so to speak, leaving you wondering what is going on. But, all of the pieces of the puzzle fall together throughout the film, so don’t worry if you feel slightly lost in the beginning.

The film begins with five criminals being rounded up as the ’’usual suspects’’ in a crime of theft outside of Queens, for a truck loaded with strip gun parts. The five men are broughten into custody, in a rather humourous segment. Eventually, the five criminals band together to enforce their means of justice and revenge on whoever stands in their way.

For the remainder of the film, Roger ’’Verbal’’ Kint is brought into the interrogation of Dave Kujan of US Customs, who Palminteri played great. The name Keyser Soze is soon brought into play, which makes things really interesting. The ending of this film, I feel, will leave you satisfied. The climax leading up to the ending will give you a provocative feeling about a certain group members.

Overall, it was a great thriller that leaves you wanting a second viewing to get a greater insight.

Smart film. 9/10. Spacey was classic.
