The Hyderabadi stylist is the new face of Indian test cricket. Having been a part of the national team for nearly 5 years, Laxman has found respect as a technically sound cricketer with ability to hit big scores at will. His flowing off drives & elegant flicks are the hallmarks of a legend.
Its a shame that people have already started doubting genius Laxmans capabilities as a player. He is the most gifted & natural player in the side after Tendulkar.
The main complaint against Laxman is that he does not get his big scores very often. But Laxman is very much a match winner in his own right. Who can forget the greatest test series ever, the India-Australia confrontation in 2001. The architect of Indian victory scripted a marvellous 281 to give India the confidence and push to believe in themselves.
Sceptics would point that he didnt do well after that in South Africa or against Zimbabwe in India. With critics incessantly hounding him for not batting with consistency, Laxman departed for the West Indies only because Virender Sehwag was injured. And once again he defied the odds, topping the batting charts with 474 runs at an average of 79.
His domestic records are a legend in itself. He has lead the domestic ratings for years & its just a matter of time before he finds himself at the top of international ratings.
