Vagator beach is undoubtedly one of the best beaches in Goa. Full of enchanting scenes, one can spend the whole day just admiring nature. You can take a bus from Mapusa to reach there. If you have your bike, the best route to take is via DM’s college. Lonely road with negligible potholes, I am sure you will enjoy the ride to the beach. You can also reach the beach if you are going northwards from the capital city of Panaji. Take the left from Porvorim near the junction at hotel coqueiro. I would not advise you to take this route though...
The road will come to a dead end on a hillock. You will have to climb down the hill on foot which itself is a wonderful experience. This area is a good picnic spot. Its a bit crowded, with a lot of female tourists, but there is enough place to sit in a group. But beware...don’t be over adventurous and enter the water for a swim if you have not visited this place before. The waters are full of rocks. The sight of the waves hitting the rocks protruding outside the waters is just enthralling. Some people find pleasure in sitting on these rocks and just being lost in their dreams...
For those people who love lonely, secluded places, there is another good place in vagator. Its a hill where you can take your bikes too. To reach this place, you will have to cross a football ground, and simply take your bikes on the hill, wherever you can see a path. Its a short, fun filled difficult ride, as if a river meandering through its course. The top is a really nice place to relax. Its a calm and lonely place (boozers beware, there are cops roaming in the area often). You can see the whole place from top. With plenty of greenery around, and the sea below, you will always get cool breeze...
So if you happen to go to Goa, make it a point to visit this lovely beach, in this lovely state.
