He got real break with Blockbuster Sitara in 1984 wr he introduced Bhanupriya, this movie is excellent make him Master in Telugu cinema, then Ladies Taylor with Rajendraprasad(he got break with this movie) in 1985 with total village & Godavari river backdrop.Then Anweshana, Preminchu Pelladu, Kanakamahalaxmi Recording dance troup, Maharshi(Darr in Hindi), April 1 vidudala Chettukinda pleader, etc all are his block busters in 1980"s.He was one of the 4 pillars in Telugu cinema among, Bapu, Viswanath & Jandyala.
For a significant period of his career, Vamsy collaborated with the music director IllayarajaSome of their best work has been in cooperation with each other. Thetwo were so attuned to each others’ way of thinking that for a song inhis movie Ladies Taylor Vamsy shot the video for a song(Ekkada Ekkada) before the song was even recorded . This is against the norm as usually the songs are recorded first and the videos are made later in most movies.
