Kyaa aapne Vanilla Coke try kiya? YES
Iske Ice-Creamy Taste ko dil diya? NO
Why no? The answers very plain. Because the soft drink is too plain! Though Ill admit the commercials were extremely tempting, once I finally got my hands on the drink in a club, I swallowed the sour truth down with the black liquid.
Vanilla Coke is no great shakes
How come? you fire back. How is that possible? The ads made it sound so great, so how can it be as bland as you claim?
Yes Ill admit, the ad campaign is the greatest strength of the whole turnover. Vivek Oberoi with his greasy hair twirled into an Elvis coiffure, cavorting with babes in a disco and playing badminton... pretty catchy stuff! The kind you wont forget! The curiosity generating Vakaau ( and Vakau Times that appeared in the Times of India), Parampara and the radio entry did make for quite a heady concoction. In fact, thats the reason I tried it in the first place! The sad part is what should have been a heady concoction- the actual drink, isnt.
This stunning ad campaign somehow seems to be a struggle to promote a very so-so product!
Well... it wasnt bland...but it was a big-let-down, specially after the expectations Id built up! Its not bad, but its not good eitherYou have to activate all your taste buds to catch the tiny difference between normal Pepsi and this variety. Basically, the vanilla flavour is hardly recognisable!Have the same drink without being informed what it is, and I bet youll assume its your ritual soft drink- Coca Cola!
The packing is zara hatke with the yellow lid and a stylishly curled Vanilla Coke embossed on the bottle. Sadly, its yet another brilliant gimmick on a product that doesnt have that much glitz itself!
Till now its Pepsi thats been dishing out season specials, be it- Blue pepsi, Lemon Pepsi and the like. Im glad Coca Cola decided to make a headstart, and that too in such a dhamakedaar way. But those two are way ahead of Vanilla Coke! Vanilla Coke almost seems like some Auntyji dropped vanilla essence for her cake by accident into a glass of Pepsi next to her baking tray. Frankly, though, it aint a bad idea!!
But hey, many others may beg to differ. Maybe because they didnt have as high hopes from it, so they werent that disappointed. My personal advice, dont expect much, youll probably be pleased.
But if Im to pass a verdict, Id say...
Vanilla Cokes great for parties (itll generate loads of interest) but not if youre planning a restaurant visit or party with a close group of friends. Youll spend half the time discussing how the taste wasnt quite what youd expected ( that happened in my case)! Instead just take your trusty, regular and fizzy Dil Maange More Pepsi or Life Ho To Aisi Coca Cola for a close get-together!
For those if havent drunk the Icecreamy Thanda Coke, if you do ever spot it on some shelf, youve just gotta grab a bottle. Not because the tastes that out-of-the-world, but for the sheer experience of trying something new, zesty, zingy and VAkaaaauuu!!!
So just gulp a swig- because I know everyone wont disapprove- and to advise people not to drink Vanilla Coke- not fair!
So go Follow Vakaau Parampara, grab Ice Creamy Thanda Vanilla Coke- while I sit here and try figuring out what these Pepsi guysll add next!
