Travelling is one of my hobby. I recently visited Varanasi. I had heard a lot about this place, read in books and finally I had a chance to visit.
So, I would say, this place is full of crowd, Sadhus and Mast maula kind of people all around. Hotels are not that costly and you can get easy food on the street or inside hotel.
Varanasi has more than 50+ ghats starting from Assi Ghat. So, at assi ghat, you will be under LED lights set up by Modiji. You will see Ramnagar Fort at the other end of Ganga. The most attractive place was Dashashwamedh Ghat. I would recommend you to visit this at evening time. Evening time, you will be see a marvellous scene of Ganga Aarti. It is recommended to watch it from other end of Ganga. You will see 100s of people doing aarti in sync and making a shadow of it in Ganga river. Doesn’t it sound awesome!
You will also see a lot of foreigners walking around, playing guitar, sketching pictures.
Once you are done with Ganga, it is recommended to visit Vishwanath temple which is nearby. You can easily travel with either battery rickshaw or auto.
