Veer Zara= Bheed Jyada

Review : Let me initiate this review by saying that I will try to be as unbiased as I can towards anything or anyone in particular. So after a long wait ’’Veer-Zara’’ got released yesterday with strong expectations of being a spectacular hit despite facing severe competitions from ’Naach’ and ’Aitraaz’. And belive me we see another typical Yash Chopra movie in here with a slightly twisted story line, a refreshing screenplay with usual melodious music that is more or less always there in Yash raj banner movies.

The movie starts with Veer Pratap Singh (Shahrukh Khan) in the jail with Samiya Siddiqui (Rani Mukherjee). and immediately the feeling sets in and one starts to anticipate the flash-back pretty soon. Veer Pratap Singh and the heroine, Zaara Haiyyat Khan (Preity Zinta) are confronted when the later met an accident and our own SRK comes to rescue which is his hobby in the movie(Saving lives). Preity is on a personal mission to India to fulfill her Bebes final wish.

The movie takes pace as the attraction of SRK gets towards Zaara and some of the screenplay during preitys visit to India is absolutely fantastic, it gives u a great feeling of being a true Indian. Here comes the entry of Amitabh and Hema (Reminiscent of Baghbaan, they are still in deep love with each other despite defying age). BIGB’s role is short but sweet and he manages to put a smile on everyones face with his kiddish behaviour. Hema is gorgeous as usual and she fits in the role with great authority.

Before our own SRK could tell Preity that he and his parents wants her to be married with him, arrives Manoj Bajpai (shortly going to marry preity) who comes to India in search of Preity. SRK in a very own stylish way confesses to Preity about his feelings and a song when both of them are leaving to their own respective destinations at that moment totally recalls DDLJ.

In the later half, Somehow Preity also starts missing SRK and finds one day that she madly loves SRK. Mother of Preity Kiron Kher and their servant cum preitys reliable friend Shabbo [Divya Dutta] gets a major part to play. The later informs SRK in India asking him to come soon to Lahore where his Zara is supposedly getting married. He leaves his job and goes to Pakistan to do some heroics and one starts to expect a slightly refined Gadar (part-2), but Yash ji has something new to offer.

Kiron kher beggs SRK and asks him to step out of Zaras life as her father will die if she marries someone else other than Manoj Vajpai. SRK and Preity both agree that parents come first, so she agrees to marry Manoj. But Manoj initiates a conspiracy and somehoe gets SRK arrested by defaming him and providing fake evidence of him being an intelligence man from India.

Then comes the role of Rani Mukerji, who after 22 years fights for SRKs in hope to do justice to this man. SRK is an aged man by then (somewhere 50+). She has put up an immaculate performance and she is the one with some drama helps SRK with the assistance of Zara ( who got herself based in India at SRKs house, see the movie to know the reason why ) to come out of jail to live life properly again. She is meanwhile confronted with Anupam kher who once was the Guru of Rani, but due to contrasting approaches, they seperated. She wins and a predictable happy ending is there. Emotional scenes are a treat to eyes. Guys watch out for Shahrukh in this movie.

I think this is yet another awesome performance by him ( I give him more marks to his acting compared to Devdas) as he has performed both the roles of a young man and an Old man woth ultimate ease. Preity is looking very beautiful, with lots of Desi get up and less make up. Rani has matured as an actress and this reflects on her performance.

The movie has too many songs ( Still worth listening coz they are melodious), and the screenplay is of 210 minutes without any specific reason. As all the hindi movies, specially Shahrukh movies, there are some scenes which seems non-realistic, less practical and larger than life. But thats how we have accepted SRK now, havent we? Remember SRK chasing and beating a Mahindra Scorpio on ’Main Hoon Na’.

All in all, a complete love story with an ordinary story line, effective screenplay, lovely music and an out of skin performance from SRK in particular makes this movie worth-watching. Watch it for some of the most breath-taking scenes from SRK and also for some lovely music. He will definitely attracting crowds both in India and Overseas and this movie is a sure shot Hit around the globe. Since Shahrukh sells, Veer Zara can expect ’’ Bheed Jyada’’ All in all, I rate is reasonable to watch it in cinemas once with family.
